    Guys,

I just went to the range with my 30BAS for the first time. I already have a 30BA and was able to do a quick informal comparison while shooting my .260.

First off, I really like my 30BA and have yet to hear a better .30 caliber suppressor. The 30BAS had great suppression. It was slightly louder than my 30BA, but the difference in noise level was nominal. Accuracy was still outstanding.

I think the 30BAS will be a great can for people trying to keep their rifles as short as possible. I see this suppressor as the perfect one for the those shooting a DTA Covert or for the hunters out there that want a good, great performing suppressor that is 2" shorter than the 30BA and slightly lighter.

My primary purpose for purchasing this was to run on my .300 Blackout. Hopefully, I will have some time to get rounds loaded for the blackout in the next few weeks.

If you are going for a great .30 caliber can, and need to shave off some length and weight the 30BAS is awesome. If you want the ultimate in .30 caliber suppression the 30BA is great and the .338BA is even better.

Thanks for the write-up. Just curious, why didn't you go with the 30PSS for your blackout gun?

I still plan on shooting a descent amount of supersonic rounds through it, so I went with the 30BAS. The 30BAS may be the suppressor to use on my comp rifle and eventually my hunting rifle (when I pickup a lighter weight rifle for hunting). It also gave me the ability to run one 30 cal suppressor on my rifle and the other on another rifle if I have a friend or family member out shooting with me. After shooting suppressed rifles for years, I am getting really tired of people blasting next to me with muzzle brakes at the range or out shooting in general.

I have thought about building a super short 8" bbl .300 BLK upper dedicated to primarily subsonic use. A PSS may be the ticket for it.

Sorry for the quality of the photo, but here is a comparison between the 338BA, 30BA, and 30BAS.

On paper the 338BA does not seem that much larger, but in person it is significantly larger than the 30BA.

Here is another question I thought the BAS came out like a few months ago how did you already file the paperwork and receive it?

You are correct. The BAS was only announced 4.5 months ago. It's too bad things at the ATF have slowed so much. I remember when I purchased my first suppressor about 10 years ago. The total transfer time was 21 days, which included a Form 3 Dealer Transfer, Form 4 Individual Transfer and all of the mailing back and forth.

The more I think about the how well the BAS performed, the more I think if I had to do it again I may be tempted to only have a 338BA and 30BAS. The 338BA could be used on the smaller calibers, when the more suppression was desired, otherwise the 30BAS could be used and would save the end user a couple inches in length and a couple ounces while not giving up much in the suppression department. I think Thunder Beast will sell a bunch of the 30BAS.

RMW, Can you compare the performance of the 338BA vs the 30BA on a 30 cal gun? This is interesting that you would consider the 338 then jumping down to the 30BAS. What if you never even considered shooting a .338 cal, would you have a reason to go with the 338 vice the 30 can? Thanks!

That doesn't really answer the question……. are you an SOT holder? That would be the only way you got one so quickly. I had mine relatively fast, but no way was I getting it in hand in a few months using a form 4.

lol I was scratching my head thinking my reading comprehension was bad and I couldn't find the answer to my question in his reply. *sigh of relief* Good to know I really didn't over read it.

I purchased the 338BA and 30BA at the same time. The 338BA was for use on my 338LM and the 30BA was to be used on everything else that I had at the time. I have shot my 338BA and 30BA on a .30 caliber gun. The 338BA is quieter on a 30 cal rifle, but it is noticeably heavier and longer.

I picked up the BAS primarily to run on a 10" 300 BLK AR15 SBR. To me it kind of defeated the purpose of an SBR to hang a 9" can on a 10" barreled rifle. The 7" BAS looks much better on it than the 9" BA. The BAS also gives me the ability to run a shorter suppressor on my comp rifle if I wanted. It also gave me another way to suppress my .30 cal rifles, so when I go out and shoot with friends and family I can have one more of the rifles suppressed on the line. The PSS would have been a pretty good choice for my 300 BLK, but it does not have the versatility of the BAS.

If I never was going to shoot a 338LM, I would go with the 30BA or 30BAS depending on my needs. The 338BA is great, but it comes at the cost of extra weight, length, and much higher price. The 30BA is a fantastic performing suppressor. When running the 30BA, I constantly have people coming up to me asking what brand of suppressor I have on the end of my rifle, because they have not heard a 30 caliber suppressor that sounds as good. I have shot next to guys shooting various .30 caliber suppressors and I have yet to hear a .30 caliber can that sounds better than the Thunder Beast. If you are trying to keep your rifle short, the 30BAS is a great option.

Sorry. I really shouldn't be posting at 1:00 AM. I must have deleted my answer as I was putting together my post. I have an 07FFL/SOT. With many dealer transfers taking 3+ months the most probable way to have a 30BAS in your hands would be to have an SOT. If you had friends in the NFA branch of the ATF, you may have one by now as an individual. If this was 10 years ago, you would have received your form 4 on a 30BAS 3 months ago if it was ordered when announced.

Thanks for the info RMW! Hope you enjoy it well while the losers like me been waiting since April and not expecting to see my 30BA until March 2014. *cries in corner*

Trust me. You will like this can. While you may have to wait, it will be worth it. If you're ever out near the Salt Lake City, Utah area, I would be happy to take you out and let you burn some powder through the suppressor I have.

Gotcha...... friends in the ATF/NFA? That won't help you one bit when they have 30k forms on their desk to sort thru. I have been at this stuff for 7 years now I remember when the wait time was 4 weeks door to door. That was the good old days! Now its just absurdly long wait times for no reason other then to deprive the citizens of their right to have these items.

Suppressor SHOULD NOT BE ON THAT LIST of controlled items. Hell an American invented the suppressor and now over seas they are nearly mandatory to shoot with to cut down on noise pollution!!!

    Couldn't agree more.
