NEW SHOOTERS WELCOME!!!
Doesn't cost anything, for fun and bragging rights, and we share beneficial information learned each month.

This is the monthly thread for posting scores for our monthly
SH MONTHLY RIMFIRE 25 & 50yd 4 POSITION COMPETITION
SH MONTHLY 50yd TACTICAL RIMFIRE COMPETITION
SH "WHAT BUGS ME" RIMFIRE COMPETITON

Try out the "Support Side" option for a twist in practice / training.

Please view the guidelines & rules for all the Short Range Competitions here:

Click link for Printable Targets:
http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...-competitions-rev-feb-2013-a.html#post2342454
The targets are set up to be the same dimensions as any of the targets that are commercially available, to be used with 8.5" x 11"; printer paper, and to use minimal ink. For the 4P 5 bull target, a portion of the edge can be folded and matched / stapled / taped to the other side - essentially making one large target.

Scores of all the short range competitions will sorted by the type of competition, distance, caliber, and sighting device used and compiled at month's end. Scores found in error can be corrected by the origninal creator of that month's thread.

A good source of tips, tricks, what worked, what didn't, rifle / ammo performance, thoughts, etc. Link:

Oct SH Rimfire short range precision:

Ok! Started out with a bang! Cold Bore perfect! Then immediatly noticed a drop. Had to favor high to keep in target. The 3 and 15 were called, as we cannot shoot prone at this public range and the benchs suck! Played with the elevation with the group, then just got too cocky with the KYL! Pulled the second hostage. Not bad for the second time! Had a blast! More folks should do this! Had a blast with my bud Hammertime!

Stage 1: 25
Stage 2: 40
Stage 3:10
Stage 4: 0
Stage 5: 30
Total: 105

I will post my target later, as I found an error. I thought I had a 145 but did not deduct the misses from the 5 shot group, so I went from what I thought was a 145 to 125. Geno C, you need to add 10 points to your score. What you thought were misses are actually hits. I went back and read the rules posted by Top Predator. Here is the explanation I copied and pasted.

Stage 2 - THE GRID - 10 rounds. Designed to make the shooter "search & identify" the proper target called out and excercise a precise shot. there will be 10 random numbers drawn (1-20) each month which are the proper target to hit and are scored +5 points per hit. The numbers will be shot in sequentially in order per the monthly thread (the target is never the same way twice). The other 10 numbers are "no shoots". If a no shoot is hit, -5 point penalty. Empty spaces around the boxes score zero points (clean misses). If a picked number is accidentally hit (not the intended number at the time) please be honest and score -5 points.

I take it to mean a 'No Shoot" is hitting a number not called in the selected numbers. And "white space" is anything outside the number box, not the white surrounding the number inside the box. TP may need to clarify, but I think you need to add ten and unfortunately I need to subtract 20. Russ, I'll have to see yours in person next time, kinda out of focus. And those benches do suck, do you think Dave would mind if we bring our own benches and target stands??

Got ya. I was figuring the white spaces inside the boxes is what was talked about. TP I'll let you add up my score since I'm new to this.

^ Yeah it could get confusing, but the scoring originally conceived to make one think before squeezing the trigger. Sometimes trying for less points results in a better score!

A number hit twice is a -5 ...If a picked number is accidentally hit (not the intended number at the time) please be honest and score -5 points.....sort of like hitting an already downed threat, it allows another threat to escape.

White space around the box without breaking a line is scored as no gain / no penalty, just a clean miss.

Had a blast! More folks should do this!

I think with ammo being more available, there will be more shooters like we used to have. For myself, hunting & silhouette competition had me jammed up in October, by the time I got to shoot the short range matches here, it was already November. Plus my "personal" 25 to 75Y range up the mountain fell victim to a utility pole line, so the 5 min trip to shoot is gone. I particularly liked doing the positional stuff and support side. Haven't shot that in a while, humbles me real quick!

I just ran into this match. Has anyone tried this at 100 yards and would the TRC target be doable at that yardage. Looking at starting something like this at my club

Have not tried it at 100 yards. I've seen on youtube that a couple of guys have shot these from 25 yards. It's not as easy from 50 yards as one may think. Give the 50 yard a try and see what you think.

Joe you got that right. Each strange isn't hard in itself but put them in a row under field conditions and you have a little bit more of a challenge
