My savage model 10 FLCP-K came with a base which was unexpected. Just wondered if you guys think I should use it or pick up something better ?

Thanks

Probably an EGW or Weaver Tactical. Both are decent rails and I would keep them. I tend to remove them if they come on the gun, clean them, then remount. I'm just picky though.

I will just use the one it came with. What do you guys reccomend for rings ? Ive got a 6-24x50mm scope going on but theres so many options

Depends on your budget. On the low end I would suggest a set of Warne Maxima medium height. You could probably get away with a set of low rings as the base appears to be rather beefy in nature.

Id like to try and not go over $100 on rings. Do most of you guys lap them? And what do you put on after that? Some bluing to prevent rust?

For inexpensive rings, I like the Burris signature zee rings - the ones with the spherical inserts. No need to lap, plus you can add MOA if you want by using offset inserts. Also useful for correcting screwed up bases/actions.

I would not suggest the Signature rings on a Picatinney rail, as the round cross-bolt does not lock down good in MY experience. TPS has makes some quality rings that are less than $100.

I was actually looking at the tps steel rings. They looked pretty nice

Ya I did that, and it still shook loose. Your experience might be different... But my experience with Burris rings have not been good. If I were to go mounts other that a rail and tac-style rings, I would suggest Talley light-weights. SWFA Mounts, Rings and Bases Talley Mounts Talley Lightweight Aluminum Scopemounts Talley Lightweight Aluminum 30mm Scopemounts
Other than those, The only rings I have tried that worked were Badger's and Aadland's Dual-lugs, but neither of those meet the OP's price requirement.

Vortex makes some pretty good rings and reasonably priced. It may be a secret but the package of the ones I bought mentioned they were actually made by Warne.

$100 isnt a firm limit more looking in that range. I dont want thr cheapest but i,also dont need the best of the best
