So I love the rifle, (.260) it's been getting 3/8 moa out of the box with my handloads... I've had it for about almost 2 months now. Something that worried me today, I got it out today and noticed my bolt handle was loose... and in fact the bolt at the end was actually loose... used an allen wrench to tighten it up. Anyone have something like this happen to you?

Designed that way for breaking down the bolt. Just keep an eye on it, tighten it if it needs it. There are bolt disassembly instructions over on savageshooters.com, give 'em a look and it should ease your mind a bit.

Its really not a huge deal.

Best way to really snug it up is put the allen wrench so that it is pointing to the 7-8 o'clock position, as looking at the BAS (bolt assembly/big ass screw), with the bolt handle at the 4-5 o'clock position...then put the thing on a non-concrete surface (carpet or wood works) and slowly put pressure on it with your foot.

I changed the bolt handle on mine and it looked like the old one had blue loctite on it. Dont know if they all do or not

Thanks for the responses guys, I've had 2 other savages, one for 3+ years another for almost 2 years and neither have had any play develop with the bolt on the back of the bolt /& the handle. So it was something that I wanted to make sure I'm not just over looking a potential problem. Thing is, now I know that it isn't too rough to break loose incase I want to switch out the handle
