It has been a hard weekend if hunting at my ranch in junction tx, but I decided to stay an extra evening and it paid off...
I saw this buck this am before there was enough light to tell how big he was or to make an ethical shot, I let him walk then heard shots...figured he was down.

I got in my blind around 2:00 pm sunday afternoon and just sat, at 3:10 couple of yearlings started mocking, and around 3:50 a doe Walked out acting like she was hot, not 2 mins pass and he walks out a hair under 200m away, he hit the tree line and skirted towards me, when he came out from cover I already had my rifle up he was in a full trot chasing the doe he stopped broadside at 90m and I fired he hunched and ran full on at me I could see blood spraying out just behind his shoulder, the 260 140 grain Berger hunting vld launched at 2750fps did its job he expired 36 yards from me...I sat for about 20mins trying to gather my stuff, he is the only buck I have shot that got bigger when I got up to him. Just an amazing deer for this part of the country.

A side note:

I shot a cull buck yesterday and the Berger did exactly the same thing, I love consistent performance in a hunting bullet!

I have hunted with a 260 since 1998, it out performs my 308 and 30-06 every time....I just love this round

Damn fine buck man
Congrats!

You gonna wait for yotes over the gut pile?

That is a good size deer especially for the area. I've hunted off Llano River between Junction and Mason years ago, we killed a lot of deer, but never seen one that good. Congratulations!
