I'm looking for a gunsmith to rebarrel my sons 25-06 ruger m77.I got him a shilen blank and need to get it installed. I sent it to a gunsmith 4 months ago and his wife got sick and he is closing. I live near Alexandria la.

he's a little far south, in Independence, but Don Geraci is a great gun smith, he doesn't take long if you have your parts together, but I'm not sure what he has going on right now. give him a call 985-878-6113
Do you want any other work done to the rifle besides the thread and chamber? I have a Ruger M-77 blueprint kit from PTG that doesn't get used as much as I'd like and a 25-06 reamer. I can have it back to you pretty darn quick. I used to have a shop in Louisiana in the back of Simmons' Sporting Goods in Bastrop.
New place called Acadiana gun works. I think they are in Scott. And theres bayou teche guns. I know you mentioned Cenla, but the only one in Cenla I know of is Terry at KMW. And theres NO WAY he will be able to take in any work. I live 5 mins from the guy, and cant get any work done from him.
Tommie Butler Woodworth, LA 318-448-0414. You'll really like him. Fantastic shot. Plenty of "2 inch guns" wind up half-minute guns, just because he was the one shooting them!

I did not find anyone to do the 25-06 close by.I sold the blank.He also has a savage 7mm-08 so we bought him a prefit criterian barrel and it shots great.I am going to build myself a savage 7mm-08 myself in march.I am building mine of a single shot target action and already have the brux barrel for it.I am building mine without the barrel nut. Hopefully i can find someone by then that is close by.I have used Tommy B. in the past and he is great but will not do any barrel work anymore.

Try Don Kiser @ Home# 318-925-4851 or Cell# 318-655-7177. He's local to me, NW LA and builds fine rifles. Me and him go way back as he's my old BR partner. He was building rifles before I was if that tells you anything. He has an FFL so he's good to go. I've been sending him my overflow and for now, he has fairly quick turn around times, that'll change soon. He worked as a Tool & Die maker several years back and is actually one of the guys that helped me learn to run a lathe.

wnroscoe Mr.Don has all my parts and will be building my custom 7mm-08 soon i hope. Thanks you for the heads up Mr.Don seems like a great guy. I will post pictures when he is finished with rifle.

Don Kiser built my rifle after being recommended by Roscoe. Very nice guy, extremely knowledgeable and straight forward. I dropped it off to home and picked it up to avoid shipping. I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out.
I wouldn't hesitate in using him again.

Call Red Jacket Firearms .... they will turn it into a multi barrel bolt action with one bolt cycling the rest so you can fire 3 shots at once and can blow up trucks in one shot ...... 
Don Kiser did a great job on my 7mm-08.
