  • Trying to remember what rifle I shot as a child in our local Boy Scout troop it was a .22 match rifle that had a fixed comb but adjustable butt.... The one thing I remember was it had a band over the front of the barrel that had an adjustment screw under the stock so you could adjust tension on the barrel? It was bolt action and magazine fed with a heavy barrel and open sights

    could have been a Remington 37 or a Winchester 52....both had variants with barrel bands and barrel tension screws.
     
    If it had an adjustable butt plate, it was modified. Winchester 52's had fixed butt plates.
    The top rifle is a 52C mag fed. The bottom is a 52D, single shot
