I am going to sell my 700 based 6.5x47 for an AI AE MK III in 6.5 CM. I was going to try and save a few bucks and go with the fixed stock. Should I just suck it up and spend the extra $350 for the folder? From what I gather you have to take the cheek piece off to get the bolt out. I don't really mind unless it's a pain in the backside.

If you are moving around a lot with the gun, the folder is nice, but if you really don't need it then why not save the $350 and put the money towards a good mount or ammo or bipod. If you do get the fixed, get the cheekpiece thumbscrews and cleaning is even a hassle. I have the fixed and love it, and I'm sure if I had the folder I would love that too.

In Aus we have no choice really as folding stocks are a restricted import, that said the Fixed stock is not a deal breaker and you will soon forget about it as long as you buy your gear accordingly.

I would prefer a folder though
