Something doesn't seem right with the Hornady OAL gauge reading and my JP LRP-07.

Hello,

I purchased the Hornady OAL gauge tool with the .308 modified case for my semi-auto in .308. The reading I took with a 168smk seems a bit long. The measurement from the ogive was 2.405 touching the lands. It seems a bit long? Could it be that semi's have a longer chamber?

Can someone please help or if they have used the same set-up, what were their measurements in a semi auto?

Thanks.

I was going to contact JP but its the weekend and I wanted to load a few rounds this weekend. I just loaded to 2.800 COAL to play it safe untill I figure this out with JP.

I just rang 168 smk's on my LMT and my max OGIVE (not coal) measurement was 2.251 touching the lands with my LMT. Not saying your hornady OAL insert isn't screwed up, but your OGIVE seams long... Would you happen to have a 168 amax OGIVE measurement also?

before you fire the rifle again i'd talk to JP
