I had a lot written down to say/post here. But the more I think about it, the more I just can’t write it. I had some things written that sounded very good, eloquent, and even poetic. My words spoke to the sacrifice and bravery of all our soldiers. But the bottom line is - I really just want to say one thing:

Thank you.

Thank you for all that you have done and all you will do.

At work today I was standing around doing nothing at 11am, boss asked why I was not doing anything, just pointed to my watch and ignored him. Some time later he did apologise.

My words can't express my appreciation for the brave men and women who sacrifice daily, so our Country can remain FREE! Now if only the President and Congress could get a clue, things might improve for all of us.

To all here who serve, have served, or will serve - THANK YOU!

I want to say something. But all I can do is to echo what the others have said. To all vets everywhere, I wish you a great day and thanks from me & my family.

Our History Died Today

He was getting old and paunchy
And his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion,
Telling stories of the past.

Of a war that he once fought in
And the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies;
They were heroes, every one.

And 'tho sometimes to neighbors
His tales became a joke,
All his buddies listened quietly
For they knew where-of he spoke.

But we'll hear his tales no longer,
For ol' Vince has passed away,
And the world's a little poorer
For a Veteran died today.

He won't be mourned by many,
Just his children and his wife.
For he lived an ordinary,
Very quiet sort of life.

He held a job and raised a family,
Going quietly on his way;
And the world won't note his passing,
'Tho a Veteran died today.

When politicians leave this earth,
Their bodies lie in state,
While thousands note their passing,
And proclaim that they were great.

Papers tell of their life stories
From the time that they were young,
But the passing of a Veteran
Goes unnoticed, and unsung.

Is the greatest contribution
To the welfare of our land,
Some jerk who breaks his promise
And cons his fellow man?

Or the ordinary fellow
Who in times of war and strife,
Goes off to serve his country
And offers up his life?

The politician's stipend
And the style in which he lives,
Are often disproportionate,
To the service that he gives.

While the ordinary Veteran,
Who offered up his all,
Is paid off with a medal
And perhaps a pension, small.

It is not the politicians
With their compromise and ploys,
Who won for us the freedom
That our country now enjoys.

Should you find yourself in danger,
With your enemies at hand,
Would you really want some cop-out,
With his ever-waffling stand?

Or would you want a Veteran
His home, his country, his kin,
Just a common Veteran,
Who would fight until the end.

He was just a common Veteran,
And his ranks are growing thin,
But his presence should remind us
We may need his likes again.

For when countries are in conflict,
We find the Veteran's part,
Is to clean up all the troubles
That the politicians start.

If we cannot do him honor
While he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage
At the ending of his days.

Thanks Dad R.I.P . Thanks Son Be safe and Godspeed. God Bless all Veterans past, present and future. May the good Lord protect our country from all Enemies foreign and domestic .My our efforts continue to bear the sweet fruit of Freedom evermore.

Thank you Veteran's for all that you do and have done. Your Bravery cannot be summed up in mere words. Myself and my family will pray for those that served and serve. God Bless you All...

Veterans Day

And let me also add a Thank You to the following:

A) Those who did not serve, but who fought to keep family and friends alive during wartime.

B) Those who fought against fascist and communist invading armies without taking the time to enlist, curry favor with their superiors and collect their Boyscout badges.

C) Those who, after years of wartime experience spent immersed within a local culture, decided to stay and assimilate with that culture to fight for basic human rights and democratic political goals.

And those who kept the home fires burning.

I think of my mother, a Rosie Riveter building B17 & B29s, Seen her husband and two brothers off to the SP during WWII, saw her husband off to Korea, three sons to Vietnam, two grandsons and a daughter in-law to Iraq.

It's not just those in uniform who served.

I dont have anything different to say however I want to say it....

From those of us enjoying our freedoms that others have fought to defend, I want to thank all the past, present and future vets. To those that stepped into harms way a special thanks for your courage in doing so.

And an unread thank you to my dad who never spoke about his service in far off lands but with a quiet dedication helped us understand words like Honor, Bravery, Service.

As me and mine stand outside in the cold looking up at the heavens tonight a quiet personal thank you will be said for those that also know what those words mean and have the integrity to live by them.

I'm sad to say that I was one of the only homes in my neighborhood of 100+ homes that proudly displayed a flag, but it's the very least I can do to say thank you to all the brave veterans.

I would like to thank those who didn't come back the way they left.
