Hey guys I'm in the market for a new scope. I've been looking at the new mark 6 3-18 scopes. I'm wondering how the glass on the mark 6 compares to other scopes in the $2000 price range.

I owned a mark 4 6.5-20 and really wasn't too impressed by the glass quality. The adjustments and other functions were great. Any opinions/experiences are welcome.

I have a mk8, which is supposed to have the same glass as the mk6 series. The quality is noticeably better than the older mk4 series. I personally feel it is on par with anything else that is in your higher-end brands.

That's what I wanted to hear. I really like their new offerings. Wish I could spring for the mark 8

I am looking at purchasing the leupold 6.5-20 Mark 4. I would be very interested in your thoughts on this scope.
Thanks
Charles

I have both the Mark 6 3-18 and the S&B 5-25. While the S&B is a fantastic scope, the Leupold holds its own in comparison. The glass in the Leupold is very good and you will not be disappointed. On a side note, I was in an accident the other day in my vehicle and it was totaled. I was on my way to a hasty range session and just stuck the rifle in the front passenger seat without a case. I was hit so hard that the car did a complete 360 and was totaled. The rifle (OBR) was thrown all over the car and came to rest in the back seat. There was a huge deep scratch mark in the rings and on to the scope itself. I was worried that something might have broke in the scope or been damaged but had other problems that I had to deal with and kinda forgot about it. After I was all healed up from surgery, I took the rifle back out to the range (in a case this time!) and there had been no shift of POI in the scope. I was very happy and its a testament to how well they are building scopes now

For the response about the mark 4 above. The 6.5-20 I had with m1 turrets. It was a decent scope the issues I had with it were that at higher power when u dial parralax completely out the target was not totally in focus. Also at max power the image tended to blur slightly. The max power on the 20x is actually like 19.3x or something. Since the reticle is 2nd plane its calibrated for max power. There are no markings to use it at 10x or whateverbhalf of 19.3 would be and line I said at 20 where you could use it the image quality was poor. I'm not talking just absolutely terrible but it was noticeable to me and I'm closer to being a novice than I am to being a pro. The ior I have is a big step up and the nf is just behind it only in glass quality. The nf instills confidence every time I use it it does the same thing.

I'm looking to step up and see if the next class up offers a noticeable difference. Besides the mark 6 I'm looking at the vortex razor and the new atacr. Unfortunately nobody around me carries these scopes for me to handle so I have to ask people on here.

That sounds more like a mirage issue. maybe you just had a bad one or maybe the fact that it's in 2nd focal plane. I have a mark 4 6.5-20 in FFP and it works great, glass is very clear. not quite as good as some S&B's or the higher end NF's that I've looked through but a nice step down.

It is the only one I've tried. Maybe itv was just me or like u said maybe it was a bad one. Not sure how often that happens but very well could be. I see a lot of good things about them and can't imagine they would be that popular if they were all like that I guess. Hard to say all I know is I wasn't pleased for $1300

Not to be a dick, but there is a scope section. Maybe ask Lowlight or Rob to move the thread so u get more reads/responses.
