JP Recoil Eliminator
APA Fat Bastard
3 or 4 port Muscle Brake
Holland 1.240" Rad. Baff. QD Brake
APS 3 port Painkiller

Looking at them for a 7mm RUM. How do these compare to each other in terms of performance?

I know they are all great brakes. Looking for feedback from guys who have experience with more than one of them.

Thanks in advance!

I am interested in this as well. I have shot the muscle break before, and it was good on a 300 WM, but I haven't shot any of the others.

I can tell you that on my 338LM the Fat Bastard preformed better than a Badger FTE. Less felt recoil, less muzzle jump. I think the APA Bastards work better because they re-direct the gases back via smaller ports VS larger, open flat ports. Thats my .02 anyway

I think it's a given that any of these brakes will perform better than the FTE.

I've compare them on a 308 Win. and the JP is significantly better. I would image the difference would be even more noticeable on a big magnum. The FTE is an outdated design, it only remains popular because its removable. If someone offered a rear venting brake like the Little Bastard that was removable, the FTE would be forgotten about.

I had a 300 wsm with a JP Recoil Eliminator and 190's moving at 2900ish kicked less than 80 grainers from my 14 pound non braked 223. I have not used any of the other brakes you listed but have used other brakes... Now the bad. it was so good I'd have blurry vision a for couple seconds after discharge and found 10-15 rounds about the most I could handle with out a head ache setting in. YMMV, but its the best "Recoil Eliminator" I have used yet...

Interesting. The rear port on muscle brake vents to the side. It's supposed to keep the shooter from feeling the shockwave. I've only used rear venting brakes on small and medium cartridges, but even with those you feel a bit of the blast. I can see how that could be worse with a large cartridge.

Nice! They need to offer it with a 5/8-24 thread though. They only list 3/4-28.

I run the Big Chubby on my .260. Not that the .260 has much recoil, but it is very easy to spot my own shots. It works damn well.

I haven't found any reviews of people using that brake on a big magnum. Still wondering about the ones in the OP...
