I am brand new to this forum so hello to all. I have searched and searched on this topic and cant seem to find a rock solid answer but every time I search I am sent to this forum. I have read a lot and am very impressed with the amount of information and knowledge on this site so here I am. I have a Millett trs-1 mounted on my sps tactical in 223. I read a lot about it before purchasing and am pretty happy with it so far. Everything seems to work fine after sighting it in at 100 yards so I think I got a good one, it tracks well, holds zero and is a pretty good deal for 300 bucks. Looks huge on my 16.5" barrel and has made it a pretty heavy gun. My question is about the reticle. It has the hash/dot/hash and attempting to range targets is getting me confused. I want to know if the hash is half a mil and the dot is 1 mil or if the hash is one mil and so forth. I have only takin the gun out once so far and have not had much time to play with it. I apologize for the newbie question but would really appreciate it if somewhere could clear this up for me once and for all and I can effectively range targets. Thanks

Bentley,

The dots will be spaced at 1 mil radian while the hashes at are half intervals. Because this is a second focal plane scope, you need to make sure you are on the corrcet magnification for ranging. On that scope, its either at 10x or at the highest 16x. I cant remember which exactly. If its 10x, the 10 on the magnifcation ring will be a different color, usually red. If not, it'll be at 16x then. Only on that set magnifcation will you be able to effciently range with the mil formula.

According to their manual, from the center of the Dot to the Bar is one mil.

This

The Millet reticle is not an enhanced reticle. They put the dot-bar so it is harder to lose count. It is 1 mil from the dot to the bar and SHOULD be accurate on 10X (there is a detent on the mag ring so you know when you reach it)

Thanks guys that's what I needed to know. Cant wait to take it out and get some more experience with it.

The best thing to do is use a known size target at a known distance and range it. My TRS-1 ended up being correct between 10x and 12x. I just marked it and set it to that setting when ranging.
