I'm going to be picking up a new 308 put together by my local smith. It's a Rem 700 SA 308 with a #5 hart barrel in a HS Precision sporter stock. I was wondering about what scope base I would go with. Prefer a single solid picatinny base. Would you go with a 0 MOA or a 20 MOA base? What Manu. would you go with considering something less expensive than a Seekins? EGW, Warne, Other?

FYI- this will be used as a hunting rig and fun target shooting. Don't know how long of shot, but don't want to hold it back due to equipment or parts selected.

Thanks.

What MOA base really depends on how far you need to shoot and your scope. If under ~400 yards then it's not really going to help you but won't hurt. If you get a 20 make sure your scope has more than 40MOA of vertical travel or you won't be able to zero at 100 yards. Most of the better scopes have 80+ which is 40 up and would get you to past 1000 with a 0 base and further than most people are hunting with a .308.

If I were to pick up a swfa 3-15 scope, would you recommend a 0 MOA or 20 MOA base.

Also, what base and rings would you suggest that wouldn't be too expensive? Less than $100 for base and less than $100 for rings.
