He hit the nail on the head. The purpose of this setup is not to compete with the D2. The D2 is superior in many ways for the compact all-in-one form and controls in a single place. And, if you can afford it, it's a great tool. But, there are plenty of folks who desire the functionality of the D2, but can't justify the cost of the D2. This package will provide the same output functions, but in a more budget conscience bundle.
