Have any of you used an Armasight Clip on? They have a Gen 2+ that uses white phosphorus that makes the image black and white, instead of green. The price is not bad...
Is the quality good and would you choose the white phosphorus over a green tube?

Thanks in advance.....

I'd be interested to hear more about this myself. Ditto on it's; price, longevity, durability, & warranty. What is it rated to mount on, & might you have a link to it?

I am unfamiliar with the Armasight Clip Ons so I am little help there. As for White phosphorus, I have looked through it and the "flat" look of it I find to be unappealing. The green we see in night vision was selected because the human eye sees 534.2NM light the best. In a monochromatic scene the human eye is also able to distinguish between the different shades of green better than any other color as well. Hence night vision is green!

I am not telling you to not buy White phosphorous but I would HIGHLY recommend looking through some AND comparing it to Green first before plunking down the hard earned dollars. Also unless you are on a HUGE budget I would save the extra money for Gen 3 as well

I had a chance to view through a Onyx B/W tube in a PVS-14 housing a few weeks back. Yes I don't see much difference vs green overall performance wise, but to me after stareing at green for 20 years it's nice to see something different image wise. I would like to have a B/W tube mainly just to add to my NV collection I thought about picking up a gen 2 + or XD 4ONYX tube but can't seen to find anyone to email me back a price quote. I priced a L3 Chrome B/W but it was really high and I don't want one that bad. LOL

I have an armasight clip on that I am writing a review for right now. It will be posted here, hopefully this week. So far,ni am impressed. The one I am testing is the Co-mini gen 2+ HD.

My initial impression is that it is really well made. This particular model is small and light, obviously, since its about the same size as the TA51. It is focused for shorter range engagements than the larger units. It focuses from in your face out to??? I am stretching it out tonight and Wednesday night on steel targets and will find out what the furthest engagement range is. Just playing with it in the field, I would guess I am going to be able to reliably engage sillouets out past 300. If you are looking for something to throw on a bolt gun to really reach out there, this isn't the particular unit you should get. If you are looking for something to hunt pigs and yotes, where small and light is good, and distances are not too long, I think its perfect. I will get a full write up with through the tube pics in the next week or so.
A bonus to this particular unit is that you can use it with a red dot sight or by it's self as a stand alone monocular, which makes if fairly versatile. However, 4x is about the max magnification you can use with it before you start to loose clarity.

Thanks for the heads up Delta4-3, you always seem to have the answers to my questions. I taking it that your model is the green tube. I'm looking at getting the "medium range" clip on. It's a Gen 2+ high definition.

From what I'm seeing it doesn't appear to be worth the extra money for the white phosphorus.....

here is the link to the particular model:

Good, Thanks!
Yes it is a green phosphor tube, I would pick a green tube over a white phosphor tube even if they were the same price. There are certain things that stand out better with green phosphor tubes, such as weapons. Why that is, I don't know, and it may be exclusive to my eyes. Also green phosphor doesn't hurt my eyeballs with extended use as much as a white tube does. Again, that could just be me, but those are my two reasons for going green.

For the record, I will be doing reviews on several Armasight products, and since I do not get paid, or even get to keep the units I test, the reviews will be honest and unbiased. If there is something I don't like about a unit, I will make it clear. I would do the same for any other manufacturer. I will be testing a different unit every 4-6 weeks most likely.

It's rated for 7.62x51, so says the instruction manual.

Who makes gen 2 HD, gen 2 WP tubes used in these systems? The system itself looks like a perfect match for a combat optics 1X to 4X.
I have also looked at the AIM system that works with 1X or 3X lens PVS-14 making a weapon sight but havent talked to any owners of one yet for real user feedback.

I believe it's an ITT tube, but I'll double check the manual. The aim system is freakin sweet. I played with one and loved it so I ordered one for my Spark. It's one of those things that you wonder why it wasn't made a long time ago. When it comes in I'll get you some pics.

Did you buy the AIM or AIM pro model? It does look pretty cool I have Eotechs, IR lasers, and mono lock systems already but the AIM does look like a great idea giving you full FOV and makes your PVS-14 into a mini weapon sight 1X or 3X. I was wondering how easy it was to sight-in and if it retained POI through removel on/off weapon and removal of PVS-14.

Delta, looking forward to your reviews as well. I had/have my eyes on the medium range unit Gen 2. Does Armasight know you are doing a review? I just worry that they might cherry pick one. I am really concerned about the RTZ...

They do know. I would hope that they would not cherry pick as I asked them not too. The Hide is the only forum I am on, and my reputation is important to me, so I made it clear that if I found out I was reviewing something that was better than that which fellow members were receiving, it would be my last review. My contact there said they expect nothing less, and if I glorify products in order to keep getting test gear, it would also be my last. That is a step in the right direction to me, and they do seem like honest, innovative guys. I only actually own the one unit from them that I purchased, and it surpassed my expectations.

Before a mod smacks my pecker for Promoting gear of a non vendor, i spoke with Low Light and received his blessing since I'm not promoting, just reviewing. As I did with the Armasight Spark review, I will include pro's and con's. I will also be reviewing som night vision related gear I own from other manufacturers.

If there is a product anyone here wants to see a review on, let me know and imwill see what I can do. While not as experienced as some here, most of the really knowledgeable NV guys on the sight are selling NV. I am not, by any means, saying they are anything but truthful, and I firmly believe they are stand up guys. However, I have nothing to sell, and gain nothing, no matter what route members take when making a purpose.

I am a 100% disabled vet, and a professional stay at home dad. Due to a spinal injury, (thanks to an IED) I am awake a lot of the night, so this opportunity is great for me. My experience with NV comes from being a sniper in the 82nd with a year and a half spend in Sadr city in 07 and 08, where more soldiers were killed in firefights than all other years of both wars combined up to that time. With this experience, and time spent with 2/75 ranger bat, I have experience with several thermals, pvs-7, pvs-14, ANVIS-9, PVS-15, PVS-22, pvs-24, and pvs-27. I have also spent time at range 37 playing with stuff I could have only dreamed about. I'm not horn tooting, as I am low speed compared to a lot of our nations warriors, and have a fraction of the experience as some of the vendors and warriors on this sight, I just wanted you guys tomknow where I'm coming from in regards to this. My reviews are not gospel, just my take on the gear I'm testing, and I'm very thankfulmthat I have had the opportunity to do so, as the military doesn't showmanything worth watching at 2:00 AM.

I didn't get to jack around on the one I played with much, just shoot it, but that short encounter forced me to separate with some cash. I have the AIM pro on order. The thing I liked was no light loss from having an optic in front of the PVS-14' and a wide open FOV. I think I will set up another AR just for it, with only flip up irons on top.

Lol I apologize for the grammatical errors in the above posts. Typing on an iPad makes me look 12.

So ITT makes Armasight's WP tube??? Can you ask your friends to provide a spec sheet for this tube? My understanding is that all ITT tubes come with spec sheet.

I don't know about the WPT specifically. But they use ITT tubes in a lot of their stuff. I only had the NV for a short period back when I reviewed it, but Ill see if I can get a sheet for it. Completely understandable to want to see one. Im not a huge fan of White phosphor myself. Its cool, but I like the traditional green phosphor image, and feel like I can pick out finer details with it.

Interesting username. Are you the ATN sales rep who was just at another site starting arguments over there selling this and that and now pretending to be a nobody here? More and more shills around here it appears.

I am an ATN employee. My name is Sachal and I posted my information in another topic.
Not hiding from anyone but i will get some facts straight here

Be aware, black/white image kills natural night vision like nothing else! If you don't like green, suck it up; black/white leads to one useless eye for awhile while you readjust when coming off the scope.

Green is far better, red would be better still, but I was never able to add a red filter with results that satisfied.

On NV, like everything else, you get what you pay for - and that goes extra for ATN!

I wonder why itt is working on gen III white phosphorus technology.

These devices are all application-specific. My comments were regarding a clip-on grayscale optic.

Are you planning to extrapolate to ridiculous conclusions on all statements that might not be complimentary to your employer? Don't answer that, it was a rhetorical question.

Carry on.

hmph maybe you can help me find where your comment was clip-on specific... but i guess we wont be hearing from you now.

These internets can be confusing things, allow me to explain:
This is a "forum", a multi-topic board where individual topics can be addressed under their own heading, much like a chapter in a book. The original poster sets the topic ("Armasight clip on Gen 2+ White Phosphorus......any good? ") and people answer that question, tangentially or straight-on. My response was to that question, not directly addressing the Armasight, but addressing gray-scale night vision clip-ons and scopes in general.

Had I wished to talk about thermals or brown recluse spiders or whether I prefer my lady in boy-cut or thong, I would have posted those comments in specific locations OTHER THAN on a topic about clip-on gray-scale optics.

As this is now spiraling to useless depths, I'll stop posting.

It is not unusual for a newbie with 5 posts to wander in, balls on his shoulder and looking for a fight, but please stifle the urge to be a dick. The original poster asked a question, and - as is the general decorum - responders try to contribute to the topic.

Don't get me wrong, its not that I dislike WPT, I just Like green better. Im sure there is someone out there that picks up details better with WPT, or whatever.

To that end, gray scale is quite nice, I didn't say I didn't like the image. My issue is that when you come off the scope, that eye is fried for awhile. With green, your night vision isn't impacted to such a dramatic degree nor for as long. I've run a few NV gray scale options and like the image (FLIR, digital, etc.) but needing to transition from low light to high light and back makes things tricky.

Keep in mind this is all a conversation about dominant eye.

Only two companies make a WPT tube. One is L3 and they are very expensive and the other would be Photonis and they are Gen 2. Very advanced Gen 2 but Gen 2 none the less. The military uses green phosphor for a reason and that is why I stick with green. I have never known ITT to dabble in WPT. I have never seen or heard of a ITT WPT.
