I have been thinking about getting a chassis for my Savage 10FCP-K (lousy left-handedness) and was just informed that I had better make my upcoming birthday count. I am real close to pulling the trigger on a McRee folder with the AR stock. I plan on getting a Magpul PRS for it. I have gotten behind a PRS on ARs and like it, I assume it will also work well in this application.

I have searched the old threads for info and still have some (hopefully focused) questions I would love info on.

1. Anyone run that model with a PRS? If so how do you like it?

2. If you went with the standard stock why?

3. Any reason not to get a folder?

4. Any reason to not get a McRee and get another chassis? (The XLRs seem nice but I like the aesthetics of the McRee better.)

Thanks!

cant answer the PRS questions as i went with the mcree stock and like it just fine (with the stock pack so its not just cold hard metal)

i would recommend the folder...couldnt run a rod thru mine unless i lowered the cheek riser, inconvenient

been behind both the mcree and the xlr and i very slightly preferred the xlr initially but not enough to pay the $ difference and now that i got used to the mcree i love it...the mcree is solid

I have a mcree non folder. I wish I would have got the folder, not sure why other than convenience. I used mole skin instead of getting the stock pack and I like it. They are very well built, I will buy another.

Thanks for the info. How do you lien the standard stock? Do you find it easy to adjust/get comfortable with? How well does the stock pack fit and stay?

stock pack is old and still hangs on tight...no worries at all about it coming loose...adjusting the stock is not as quick as the PRS would be since the PRS has the thumb wheels but it was very easy adjust comfortably for me and once i set it the first time it hasnt moved since and i havent needed to move it...just has a few allen screws to loosen then torque back down

I'm pretty sure that their AR folder is only for carbine stocks and not A2 fixed buttstocks
There's nothing to hold the stock from spinning, you would need to pin or screw the stock to the buffer tube..
Also Mcrees is running a special on their stocks till 12/31.

Thanks. I had heard inconsistent things regarding the A2 tube. If it doesn't work with one then going with the standard stock is a no brainer.
