Rifle Scopes weaver super slam scopes

I was hoping to get some input from people who have used either the 3-15 or 4-20 with a mil reticle in a long range aplication to 1000y. In my experience it seemed that weaver makes real tough scopes with marginal glass but I was hoping the glass might be better on these. Basically I was hoping to find out what scopes would the lenses compare to. Also how thick does the reticle get at high magnification. I know I can read reviews online all day but I was hoping to get something more than "its a great scope"
Thanks for any input in advance

The 3-15 is better for your application because it has a lot more elevation than the 4-20. In regards to glass quality, the weaver super slam glass is as good or better than anything in the under 1k price range. The only drawback about these scopes is that weaver is owned by ATK who's buying up everybody, which means customer service is spotty.

I've got several of their Super Slams, from a couple of 1.5-6x24s on ARs to a 3-15x50 Tactical on an AR10 to a 4-20x50 hunting scope on a 6.5x55AI bolt rifle. They've all got FFP reticles (wish the 1.5-6x24s didn't), and my take on the optical quality is that it's not quite as good as that of a Sightron SIII, but still pretty darned good - probably at least the equal of my Vortex PST 6-24x50s.

These are heavy scopes, built like a tank. I particularly like their pull-up locking turrets, though there's no elevation zero stop. The only one of mine with a mil dot reticle is the 3-15, and there's no issue with the reticle getting too thick when set at 15x. My 3-15x50 tactical has mil reticle/MOA knobs - when I bought it, the distributor I got it from didn't list the new mil/mil tactical model. If Weaver had been selling scopes like these 10-15yrs ago, I think they'd have become popular and you'd see a lot of them in use. But coming into the tactical market of today, they're facing a $hitload more competition, and have had a tough time carving out even a small niche in the market. Too bad - I think they're a pretty decent value.

I have a few of the Weaver Tactical scopes, the 1-5x had some "dust" towards the edge of the FOV when on 1x with the illumination on. I shot an e-mail to CS, they told me to send it in. There was a slight delay in its return and in another e-mail to them, they explained that were simply sending a new scope...but they were a bit behind on stock. It was only a week longer than expected. I thought Weaver CS was great, no issues. None of my other Weavers have had a hiccup.

I still think that the Weaver 3-15x EMDR is a great scope. One of, if not, the best under $1k.

I have the 3-15 with the edmr reticle and I love it. It does everything I need it to, glass is excellent and it has always tracked perfectly. I shoot out to 750 with it on a regular basis. I would love to get myself into the next level of optics but when I do this scope will go on another rifle of mine- I can't see ever getting rid of it.

I throw it in my eberle pack and it rides in the bed of my truck bouncing around kn some rough 4 wheel drive roads- not exactly super rough treatment but my zero has never drifted.

Mine has illumination, I never use it though. During my elk hunt this year I used it quit a bit at dawn and dusk, I was suprised at how well it gathered light. I have no real comparison except against my binos (zeiss conquest 12x40) and it gathered light much better, not sure if that is applicable at all just an observation.

If I had the money I would have bought another one for another rifle I have but funds made me settle a little lower.

Anyway, I feel my scope is an excellent value, expecially for the money. I have some time behind my buddy's rifle which has a Nightforce (not sure which model). It is a much nicer scope, but not so much to incite a case of jealousy.
