I had a lot of hog pics selected to upload, but if you've seen one dead hog you've seen them all......

Hey Rocky. That big guy was a tank for sure. He made a lot of sausage. I'll put up some more pics tomorrow. I eat a hell of a lot of pork....

Gator is great. It is beautiful white meat. I cut it into small bite sized pieces and work them over with a meat tenderizing hammer. Then I coat them with a medium hot breaded and deep fry them. Only for a few minutes or it will get rubbery. I serve it with a variety of hot sauces .Good stuff. I also cook it low and slow for use in gumbo or jambalaya. Gator sausage is good too :)9

When I was in college, some buddies and myself used to drive down to Lake Okeechobee to bass fish every Spring Break, which was awesome but YES, gator tail is awesome to eat. Is that one picture a turkey and a 30-30? Are you allowed to hunt turkey with a rifle down there? Never seen that before.

That's a 45-70 Guide Gun. Yeah, you can shoot turkeys with rifles. I put a 300 gr HP right through the base of his neck. Went right through the spine. His head and neck were barely attached, just with a little tab of skin. The meat was perfect.

Damn cuz, nice shot! True story...we were down at Okeechobee one year staying at this little hole in the wall motel. There was this little bar and grill connected to our motel. We went there one night and had supper, some drinks and were shooting pool. These two 350-400lb indians started buying us shots of scotch. I hate scotch so after the first 2-3 rounds I told them it was my turn to buy the drinks. They were happy to hear that until I told the bar tender we were now drinking whiskey. I bought one round of Jim Beam and the two big bad indians quickly exited the bar. I don't know if he is still down there fishing but our guide was name Stafford and he was awesome! My buddies always fished with spinning reals but my dad made me learn how to bass fish with a bait caster. It may have been coincidence but every year, I caught the most bass every day and usually the biggest bass as well. I still have pictures of cattle resting under palm trees, which seemed wierd to me at the time we were there.

Thats awsome,Nice bullet collection, and nice pile of Pork,Ive never taken a porker but it's high on my to do list,Thanks for the additions,I especially like the "pinto Piggys"those Hocks would go good in a big ole pot of pinto beans!

Threetrees - there are several different projectiles in there. The majority of them are .458 300 gr JHPs. There are two .44 240 gr HP-XTPs (sabot rounds) from my .50 muzzlestuffer, one or two 165 gr powerpoints from a 30-06, and several 150 gr powerpoints from a .308.

Rocky - pork hunting is a ton of fun. You really need to grease one for your freezer. We have no size limits, no bag limits, no shooting hour rules and can harvest them all year. They are damn good to eat too. I'm eating hog jumbalaya tonight. This is the 4th time I cooked with pork so far this week. Tomorrow night is venison stew......

I would have a hard time hunting down there as I quickly turn into screaming little girl at the sight of snakes. I can't even watch them on tv without my skin crawling.

:). We have some mean ass snakes. Good snake boots are a must. I don't mind the snakes, its the damn skunk apes that scare the crap out of me. Seriously. I shit you not.

Hey florida buck. Nice hogs man. I live for killin hogs. We should get together and run a mission on some. I have land up in Taylor county. That's pretty close to you.

Sounds good. My family is mostly made up of farmers (peanuts/corn) so we are always patrolling the fields since the amount of destruction they can cause on the crops is incredible. In the past 6 months me and my brother have taken 36 hogs out of one 500 acre field and we haven't made a dent in the population. I was actually in Taylor county this morning.

Lake Butler Florida.... Not too far from me either. I am in Valdosta GA. If you all ever need an extra rifle.... just let me know.

Nice Shootin!!

Matt (LEO SOUTH GA.)

If there were ever a reason for headshots......let this be it. De-boned shoulders getting smoked down over some wild cherry.

good looking piggies and I mean that in the best possible way!

Cheers,
Breeze

Hey Laser1. I've experienced a few things in the woods down here that just can't be explained away. I have a healthy, potentially irrational, fear/respect for the Sasquatch. After what I've experienced......I'm a believer.

Sure. October 2004, I was bowhunting on a huge piece of land in the Florida panhandle. I was in my climber one evening set up just about 40 yards from the apalachicola river and just off a game trail that crossed a small ridge. About an hour before dark I heard a loud "crack", like someone breaking a thick stick over their knee. It was extremely loud and startling in the dead quiet. It wasn't a buck rubbing his rack in a tree....no way. I sat and listened to something break these thick branches out in the thick stuff until near dark when it stopped. I got down quickly and got to my truck as quick as I could. This was no buck, no bear, no person. Whatever this was had to have a thumb to do what it was doing. When I got home I looked up "stick breaking" and quickly found out it is an intimidation behavior used by primates. Something wanted me out of there that's for certain.

No, I have never seen anything. That spot is about 8,000 acres if I remember correctly. My friend still has the hunting rights to it and still hunts there. I have not gone back. I had another instance where something very large and bipedal walked very deliberately between where I was on stand and my partner. It stayed off the logging roads and trails and walked through the thick stuff in the pitch black of a moonless morning. In the cold and dark we both heard it coming a long way off and after it passed between us. In never broke its stride even through very thick Florida brush. It's stride sound extremely long and heavy footed. My partner doesn't discuss it. We were in the middle of BFN on my hunting ground and the neighbors have 14,000 acres. This was no human and not livestock, hogs, or deer. I dunno man, I have a graduate degree in biology and I'm a show me and let me touch it kinda guy..... but I can't explain these events.

Yea they are good eatin get a sow 150 or so or maybe less and they are good and tender. I run hog dogs and its a stable at my place. Don't get much for ribs or hams like on a domestic but they still eat really good. A boar with his jewels cut out grows quick and eats good no matter the size

Yeah man, it's not really a cost effective food source if you pay to hunt or per hog. However, if you get established on a piece of property with hogs you can really save some dollars at the store. I shop approximately once every 4-6 weeks and stock up on rice and dry goods. The vast majority of my protein is sourced in the field.

I've been in the woods my whole life, and I've hunted a lot of remote areas in and outside of North America and I can tell you one thing.....if you have an experience like this you will remember it forever and will likely be pretty freaked out about it.

I'm in your court. I believe because I've seen them in 3 states; Missouri, Louisiana and Texas. Les and I have discussed this at length. You might be seeing him here in Texas.

Laser, what have you seen and heard? I'm very interested. You can PM me if you don't want to post info here.

I was joy riding on Eglin AFB, TDY at Hurlburt Field. So, I take off through a clearcut and got stuck in some branches, high centered in water; had to walk out and "steal" a duce-and-a-half to get the 3/4ton out of the swamp. At the time, there was no other U.S. Army in the whole state of Florida. Middle of the night and I had to walk ten miles back to the compound, leap frogging, driving past one and walking back, etc. Well, there was something out there that seemed to follow me the whole way. I thought it was a bear but that stuff shakes you up, especially since I already had my dick hanging out with the vehicle. When I got out of the woods, it was a relief, but something kept up with me through virtually impenetrable jungle. I think this was the Okefenoke(sp) north of the runways? Un inhabited area. BB

I have had cats follow me and they are tough to get a look at but their footfall is much different than a bipedal being. Same with black bears. I've had them follow me and actually step in my boot tracks. I took pictures :). I busted the last cat that dogged me. I had my wife with me. I was unarmed and we would have been screwed if it decided to take one of us.
