Sidearms & Scatterguns Nighthawk GRP II Recon Before & After

After some time, I decided to go with a Nighthawk. I was dead-set on a Wilson and even dropped by their shop in AR, but after fondling a few Nighthawks, I decided I love the way they feel in my hand. I am new to 1911 style handguns and after carrying several polymer framed handguns, I wanted something that felt better in the hand. I purchased this used 07' Nighthawk GRP II Recon.
BEFORE:

The previous owner claims that it has only had 250 rounds fired and came with 4 mags. I just sent it off to Nighthawk to be bobtailed, ball cut serrations added to the top of slide, the barrel flush cut reverse crowned, and everything but trigger refinished in NH's black nitride. I would like to swap the sights with a low profile sight set. Any suggestions on low profile sights that have the Novak cut?
AFTER:
Well, I decided to blackout the entire pistol......and I love it! After NH looked over the pistol, they confirmed that it could not be bobtailed. I was bummed when I found this out, but NH did offer to change the mainspring housing and round the butt. I also really like this. All and all, NH's customer service was great and their turnaround was amazing given that every reputable smith is extremely backed up right now. Nighthawk had my pistol a little less than 2 months, which I felt was definitely reasonable. Can’t wait to put some rounds through it.

I own a government sized GRP Recon and love it. I had Nighthawk coat in their black diamond finish (or whatever it's called) and am very happy with it. I'm interested in how yours will look with the ball cuts. They do excellent work over there.

Saw the post about 1911s suck. I suppose any type hand gun have those that like them and those that don't. Personally, I like all kinds.
I own a Nighthawk GRP T Recon and love it. I also own a Glock 40 cal, a Bursa 380, Ruger P89 9mm and even a German Sports Pistol as well as some others. Each have something that carries a certain appeal; and each have followers as well as those that do not like them for their own reasons.
I say, find a handgun you like, and continue with it no matter what the ney sayers say. It is after all YOUR gun and your preferences that matter, not the grumblings of others.

I had an early GRP loved it but their finish then sucked. I ended up selling it, and now regretting that sale. I wish I had just sent it off to have finished. I hear their new finish is better. Your piece looks great. Enjoy it!
