About to pick up a new NF and I still cant find any good reviews on the velocity reticle. Does anyone have any experience with this reticle? Ill be shooting the same ammo at a range that reaches out to 900 yards. The only other choice would be the new ATACR with MIL-R reticle and matching turrets.

Thanks in advance!

Night force scopes are expensive. They are also very good scopes. Why spend all that money, for a scope that could last your shooting lifetime, but then limit what it can do by choosing a velocity reticle?

when the velocity reticle work well, they work very well, but if you change your load or the caliber rifle you have the scope on, it's likely that it will change the velocity reticle. I have a lot of customer use them with great success, most are hand loading and sticking with a very specific load. i've also had a lot of customer have great success with the LV.5 reticle on a 308. personally, if I have people looking at that option, but they are unsure of the load or might change the scope to a different rifle, I recommend a custom ballistic turret.

Thanks for your feedback guys! You really have me thinking now that its probably going to be the ATACR option. I don't want to limit myself with the velocity reticle!

The ATACR is a good scope. Heavy and rugged. I like the F1 better. There are a few Threads on this Site asking about the velocity reticle. The consensus is to learn Mils or MOA, or both, and get a Mil or MOA reticle with matching knobs.

I have in the past been happy with the velocity reticles mainly the rapid z from zeiss and had excellent results. I got a 2.5-10x32 this fall for a hunting rifle and went with the hv600 reticle (Not a fan for my rifles purpose). In the past I have used velocity for varmint hunting and had excellent luck on slower shooting with plenty of time to aim, but for deer hunting in the Colorado mountains I wish I had went with the IHR for my purpose, the velocity reticle is not as fast for my eye at least, it also does not fit my caliber as well as I would like with a 4500 ft altitude change. But chalk that up to a learning experience I have another varmint rifle to put velocity reticle on and will more than likely look at the new 2.5-10x42 for with IHR for the deer rifle and can always dial for longer shots, I also did not like the 32mm fov but with atacr that won't be an issue.

I have used the low velocity on a ar10 shooting surplus military 175 smk's. Pig MOA close to 600 yds. It will accurately kill pigs to 600 using the reticle

accurately kill pigs to 600 using the reticle
...As opposed to inaccurately killing the pigs.

Now you know who the reticle was designed for: People who want to accurately kill stuff.

OP, if you don't already know how to do it, forget minute of duck and learn Mils and MOA.

Graham if you are a hunter you best learn minute of animal if you want to kill them. It is really important stuff. By the way minute of pig means putting a hole in him while little legs are going 90mph and getting the pork out of dodge. Doesn't matter where the hole is as long as he gets venilated. Anyone can learn moa and mils. Minute of animal comes from experience!!

LOL!

I can't tell, but I'm hoping that you were being sarcastic because I never learned minute of animal.

The velocity reticles work well. I prefer to have them on rifle that I hunt with, for rifles I shoot for competitions, or for really precision shooting I prefer MIL or MOA reticles.

Decided to go with the ATACR after very little deliberation. Thanks to everyone for their knowledge and thanks to Mike at CStactical for taking good care of me!
