I'm sitting with a big range to fill with one or two rifles...* I have a 260 tactical, and a 338 lapua on the way...* but I dont have any caliber inbetween them...* *I'm toying with a 7mm cal here and a 30 cal...* *I shoot mostly for fun and hunting so they wouldnt be any kind of bench rifle...* my collections goes from a 140 gr berger with the 260 to a 350 gr berger with the 338....* thats a decent gap that I have an itch to fill...*

*My ideas: 284 win/shehane, 7saum pushing 180s, 7stw...* then in the 30 cal im not sure, id like to push a bigger 30 cal bullet...* 300 win mag, 300 rum???What are the most inherently accurate rounds in these areas?

They will be trued rem 700 ss action builds...

What is yalls opinions?

For a hunting and range purposed rifle, I have seen great things out of the following:

.284 win
7mm Mag or 7mm LRM or 7mm Valkerie
.300 win mag

If you want to retain 1,000 capability, all three do fit the bill in between the two you listed. Personally, I would take one of the 7mm flavors. Great caliber for hunting due to flat trajectory and the ballistic coefficients are a definite plus.

Just my opinion, 7mm all the way.

Im feeling partial to the 284 win... reloader 17 and 180gr bergers... it may not be the fastest velocity wise but it wont burn out a barrel near as fast, would be just shy of 3000 fps, and well its popular in competition shooting so the inherent accuracy is there... otherwise it wouldnt be a known competition cartridge... its a neat looking case too if that adds anything...

Still pondering though. I have to finish two other builds before I start another haha

How is that a gap needing filled?

What will a .260 not kill that a 7mm will? How much further does a 7mm shoot than a .260? How close is too close for a .338?

You don't need to fill a gap between the 2, unless your goal is energy. For practical matters, there isn't much that the 338 can do that the 260 cannot. I would just keep what you have and enjoy it.

They don't. I'm sure it was a typo. 350 is for .375 cal, but Berger doesn't even make those

Hahaha typo... the 300 gr bergers....

I agree I pretty much have hunting covered with the two... I just want another rifle... thays about what it boils down to... and I like the 7s

You seem to have the bolts covered, I would get a 308 gas gun like a JP or Gap 10 for dragging around the hills.
