So I have this brand new in box Mauser action. Its made by zastava and sold by Charles daily. It came with a magnum bolt face. I am leaning towards a 8mm Remington barrel for this. I already have 7mm, 308 and 338 magnums, I kinda wanna try something new. Any suggestions for caliber? This is intended for long range shooting/hunting.

Already have a 338 lapua, I actually just sold 1 of mine today. 338 Wm was my original intention for this gun, but I don't really want another 338 right now. 375 might be an option, if I could find something that fits well in it.

Smcarroll,

I have the twin to your action in my safe! Un-built, so far.

Sounds like you have the magnums fairly well covered. I'd consider a .404 Jefferies IF the magazine is long enough and the bolt face could be modified. It may not be long enough for the .375 H & H, either. Consider a .375 Ruger ?

The magazine and action could be modified for the .375, but it would add cost.

Those are nice actions. I may do mine in .300 Win Mag, but have yet to finalize the project. The 7 X 61 Sharp and Hart would be a real hum-dinger in that action, too.

Lot's of choices.

416 Ruger, medium palma contour or a Rem Varm at 18-20 inches, and a 1-4 scope with a German #4 for sneaking through bushes looking for bears. :)
