I have been considering building a 12.5" 6.8 SBR. I have been considering some of the "short" 30 cal cans/ Right track, or would you guys recommend I look into something else?

I went with a YHM phantom LT. 7.625" long, 1.5" in diameter, weighs 20oz and has a lifetime warranty. I haven't gotten to shoot it as I'm waiting on my paperwork but I've fondled it and it seems very well built. I believe it will fit under some rails as well if you were going to run suppressed 100% of the time and wanted a longer rail.

Look at some of innovative arms' offerings. They make cans that are amazing for the money. I have shot most of Phil's offerings side by side with the big names and they are quieter than most, but more importantly are backed by a good company, they're robust, good looking and so on. He can do customs as well, but he has factory offerings that fit the bill.

Specwar 7.62. Great mounting hardware, quiet and a great companu backing it.

I can't wait for my Specwar but at 9 inches long it might be a bit longer than OP is looking for. If it were me I would do it though. Two inches isn't much considering the overall length of a weapon. Couple extra inches for the Specwar can noticeably cut down the dB over a shorter suppressor though... Or even any other 9 inch suppressor from the looks of the Specwar tests.

Ive got a yhm ti phantom, specwar and griffin armament recce 7 and conpared it to the TBAC 30PS. The size/weight isnt noticeable enough IMO to give up the superior db performance. You wont notice an inch one way or the other but you will notice up to 10db depending on what can youre comparing to the specwar. Plus if hes going to run the 6.8 hard especially being an SBR that pretty well rules out any of the titanium cans. 30gr of powder fired in rapid succession from an SBR in a small can like hes talking about isnt an easy task. The short series from TBAC are the only cans you would really notice a length difference and even then its not much. Once my form 1 comes back and arp gets their 12.5" 6.8 barrels back in stock my specwar will reside on thag setup. For ARs I prefer nice and quiet over any other design feature and the specwar is top dog in that category.

I have been running a SAS LLC Reaper on a 9" 300 BLK and a 12.5" Noveske 6.8 and a 11.3" Wilson 6.8. I have also used a SPR/M4 on the 12.5" and a TBA 30P-1. Haven't tried the SWR SpecWar 7.62 on them yet but I know it would sound great based on everything else I have demo'ed it on.

For a hunting 6.8, I would suggest a SAS Reaper or a TBA 7" can for the shorter length and lighter weight. The SpecWar will be a few db quieter but 9" and 24 oz is noticeably more weight length and I am short, not 20 anymore and I notice weight more every year I hunt. I am hoping that SWR introduces a SpecWar 762 Mini next month just for this kind of application.

None of the choices mentioned would be bad.
