For Christmas, my wife gave me a "giftcard" to buy either an Atlas or Sierra Bipod. I need some help though. I want to be able to use this on both my AR as well as my bolt action. My bolt action rifle has the sliding type rail and bipod swivel adapter (I have attached 3 pictures, click to enlarge). What is my best way to accomplish this? Buying separate adapters is not an issue, and the quick release deal appeals to me from Larue Tactical. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure about the 'Sierra' bipod... maybe you meant 'Sinclair'?

Honestly, I'd spend the <$10 and get a 'real' Harris bipod adapter that has a set-screw to keep it in place in the rail, rather than the one that came with the gun (actually, mine was missing - used gun - to begin with).

Atlas sells a rail adapter that is essentially a 3" section of picatinny rail that slides into a fore-end rail like your rifle has and tightens in place with set screws. Actually, thats not quite accurate - when the screws are tightened the 'feet' inside the rail squeeze and clamp the lip of the stock rail against the body of the picatinny adapter. Usually works well enough, but when you think about it there isn't a whole lot of surface area involved, and I've had one slide around a bit on my even when tightened down *hard*.

Honestly you would spend...? Looks like your sentence got cut off there. I did mean Sierra, not Sinclair. Could you link me to that adapter?

Never mind. I saw the choice was either or.

I don't care if the sliding feature goes away. I would prefer it actually.

The Sierra 7 looks like it attaches to a Picatinny rail. So Joe's linked-to adapter will work for both Atlas and Sierra.

Understood. Currently leaning toward the Atlas. If I go with the Atlas does anyone recommend the ADM170-S quick detach from Atlas or the LD-271 quick detach from Larue?

Milanuk, which Harris adapter with the set screw are you referring to? I looked all the ones here: Harris Bipods but I am not sure which one you are referring to. Thanks for the help.

My question is what will you be using your rifle for?

I've never heard of the Sierra7, I've heard nothing but praise Atlas.

If your just going to use this rifle on the range, go with the Harris and spend the rest on ammo. You have a better selection with Harris as well.
