My kid brother is graduating SWCC next month, and I'm trying to figure out a good gift idea. I wanted to get something he can use in the field, but I know those guys have access to everything under the sun. Would appreciate any helpful ideas guys. Thanks.

If he's graduating from the SFQC, then he should be getting a Reeve Yarborough knife at graduation. If he's coming out of the POQC or CAQC, then I think a semi-custom/custom fixed blade is a great idea. Don't go too huge though, I've found that plate carriers fill up pretty damn quick with all the stuff you start hanging on them.

A more unconventional idea that I got lots of use out of was my own high-end Garmin. I'm not talking about the eTrex or the wrist-model, but the 62csx or some similar model. It's handy to have for all kinds of situations, and you can get an MGRS grid in a second if you need it handy (map check, CASEVAC, intel report, etc.). I liked my original 60cx that I updated to the 62. Great products.

Since SWCCs have those badass river boats, and they have access to most anything they want, get him a pirate costume. :)
On a serious note, congrats to your brother, not many people accomplish such a feat. Good luck with the grad gift.

ZLBubba, he's in the Navy, were you referring to Army SF? But that GPS is a good idea, I'll have to check into it. Are there any mail order clubs popular with the guys in these sort of jobs? Like scotch of the month, or similar? I'd really appreciate input from any active Navy SEAL/EOD/SWCC operators on here.

Somali or Caribbean?
+1 on the congratulations to your brother.

Yup, my apologies. I got SWCCs (Navy) mixed up with SWCS (Army)... those damn acronyms. However, the GPS recommendation stands. Also, all the Navy EOD guys I ever deployed with loved cigars...

I know there for a while they gave out a V-42 custom blade. I had heard about the Yarbough. I would due the good whiskey, and or find out where his first deployment is and put some cash for a box of cuban cigars. I might look at an Bruton Compass one of their more expensive models where they can change the setting depending on where in the world they are going.
