Well, I have been thinking about doing a build for a long time, but never knew where to start. Wanted to build a 700, but did not feel like dropping 2-3k. So I decided to go with a mosin to start. From start to finish I did the entire thing by myself.

24' barrel, 11 degree target crown, boyds thumbehole stock, rock solid scope mount and bolt handle, Duricoat finish, pillar (home made) and glass bed.

Shot it today for the first time with some junk ammo I had laying around and it shot about 1.5" at 100y. Cant wait to get some decent ammo or load some myself for this. Feels and shoots great!

Unless it was some rare version of the Mosin, go for it. It is not like they are in short supply. I have heard that some 17.5 MILLION of them were packed away.

Nice job.

I have one that I put away as a collector. It is a "rare " Mosin in perfect condition. But other then that, is say these builds are acceptable.

Thanks for checking it out

Nice job. Loves me some Mosins. I've been utterly impressed with Boyd's stocks, really nice for as low-cost as they are. Post up again with some good handloads!

I really like the stock, but the one I got was inleted off to the left. It took all of extra work to correct this. Seems to be an uncommon problem, so no big deal. Fixed now

I have seen a lot of people doing that, but I wanted to avoid changing the barrel if possible. For all that I would have went with a 700 build.

Yes, waiting to buy a big lathe until I build my shop. I got that thing for nothing and you can do this kind of work on it just have to go slow. Actually a very precise lathe.

Very cool. I was eyeballing those not too long ago. Definitely a good price point, and the work you did looks excellent.

When you say that, remember that over 14 MILLION K98's were produced as well.

Nice looking Mosin though, looks good when done right instead of just hacking things. 1.5 MOA with the original barrel and factory ammo is good! Try it with some handloads and match quality .310 bullets!

Going to try some Sierra .311 that's what I measured the bore at. Have to find them first though. And shoot out enough ppu to get brass lol
