:confused:new to reloading, trying to reload .223 rounds for my ar 15 r.r ,.I am using rcbs sb t/c .223/ 5.56 dies and a lyman headspace gauge to measure my case after I resize them. All have been pushed back .002/.003 .And slide in the lyman gauge perfect. Now I try a hornady factory .223 v-max 55gn round and all 20 are oversize..005/.006.But my rifle shoots dime size at 100yds.with these. My reloads 1. groups???Using lc brass or pmc resizded, cci 400 primer,acc2230 powder and benchmark.same results. All brass is sized ,headspaced 1.450+-.001, trimmed to same size1.750 +-.001 and oal length the same +-.002..?????What gives :mad:

What gives is you have just learned that powder voodoo trumps case prep. Google the combo and see what people are using in their ARs. Then pick a powder. You cannot get half minute accuracy with every powder, no matter how much you tune the load.

Don't get caught up in the numbers, if it shoots and doesn't have too much pressure run with it.

As for your reloads...try Varget, 8208XBR, or the 55gr standby of H335.

I think he meant Hornady factory ammo has .004" more headspace than his reloads, .006" vs .002".

Thanks for all the help guys...the hornady rounds all (20) measure .005 to .006 past max length..Playing with powder amounts now to hopefuly find a good combo...:)
