Working up loads on my bolt gun today and managed to pop a primer and stick my ejector. Any help on getting her loose? I have a spare ejector in my hand with a spring and pin on the way from Numrich. I've disassembled the bolt and have her sitting in a puddle of PB blaster. Think I might have to drill it out.

On the up side it was a good day. I did find a node in the barrel.

This was 3 rounds, 280 Ackley, 180gr Berger VLD, 60.8gr H4831SC, WLR Primer, jumping 0.007" . Unfortunately things got ugly quick 3 loads later at 62.0 grains, no warning on the prior loads. Just that puff of smoke that shouldn't come out of the action. I still think I've got a good start.

No pin on the extractor, could you be referring to the ejector? If it is the ejector you could try to push it in and de-burr the bore with a small needle file. It won't be easy, if possible. Just brainstorming with you.....

Yeah if its the ejector just push it in with a punch or even loaded round and it should dislodge whatever has it stuck.

ejector, take out the pin, slam the bolt face against the wood table (out of the bolt body), until it dislodges

#2 take a punch and tap the ejector in and let it dislodge the particle in there

It's so tight I cant drive the pin out. Zero play on the ejector. I think it's toast. Got it soaking in penetrating oil, gonna try and shout it loose on Wednesday when I'm off work. Good luck finding Savage parts right now too.

I ordered ejector/spring, extractor/spring and ball from savage directly. Cost me $20 and arrived in about 4 days. Just got it Friday. (mine is an older model accutrigger - the ejector has changed since mine was built, and has a "tail" that runs on the inside of the spring.)

They are a bit of a PITA to get ahold of, but the SSS Enhanced Ejection Kit is a BIG improvement for $8.

Did it stick out or in? My spring bound/welded itself together leaving the ejector with no spring tension.
I was playing on the high side of .260 loads while adjusting OAL and ended up with a stuck ejector. Stupid I know. The pin is a giant pain to get out. Required a brand new punch, bfh, and a 2x4 on a concrete floor. Ejector came out fine but the spring was bound so tight that it would not come out. Tried drilling it, used too small of bit that bit into the center of the coils and snapped off. Tossed it in the trash, ordered a new bolt head and carried on.

My comp rifle is built on a 10FP action with a single shot mag follower. After a few blown primers and stuck ejectors, I realized I really didn't have a need for the ejector and left it out. Now my brass extracts and stays on the follower where I can pick it out and put it back into the ammo box, all nice and clean-like. For a repeater action, I'd want an ejector.
