Guys please help me out. Ive never had a fluted barrel. But to make weight on a new build it looks like im going to have to flute a #16 light palma krieger barrel. Can you guys post some pics of your sticks with cerakoted fluted barrels? And what looks better in person, 6 flutes or 12 flutes? Thanks

Re: Need Pictures of Fluted Barrels

I prefer 6 flutes

sweet. keep them coming. and post who did your flute and what barrel you have. beautiful rifles guys. I never really liked fluting before, but after seeing some of the rifles on this forum, its really really growing on me. it definitely adds "character" to the stick

18" barrel done by GAP.

I really like the look, makes the shorter barrel look longer IMO

That's bad ass!

I'll have you pic of a M24 10 fluted barrel in a week or two. I really prefer 8-10 flutes, they are just more pleasing to my eye.

Here is a Bartlein Barrel fluted with cerakote FDE, made by GA Precision:

correct me if i'm wrong but if yer trying to actually reduce weight its more in the depth of the flutes than the number or design?

Yes I believe your right, only reason I wanted flutes is looks. I've always wanted a rifle with the old Krieger style 10 fluting.

I mention depth because I know some smiths offer what they call "5 deep" fluting, meaning 5 cuts that are deep as shit, this reduced my 16 inch barrel by 2 lbs. You generally have to ask for it because industry norm is 6 cuts at a lesser depth if i Recall. I dont have a great pic of the flutes but this one, if you look close you can get an idea how deep those fuckers are

P.S. dildos and buttplugs

Heres a shot of my .338 Lapua Magnum.

Here are a few of mine.

What kind of "weight" build are you doing that needs #16 fluted? You know, you going to save like 2oz, right? There is just not enough meat in 4lb barrel....
