Hi everyone just wanted to introduce myself..My friends call me Boss (as thats my last name lol) I'm looking to get into the hobby and am just looking into buying my first real rifle. I've only ever owned a 10/22 which isn't much but I got it for Christmas one year it got me started when I was younger. Another cool thing is that I work at Cabelas and get a discount on pretty much everything there which is probably a good thing for a starter like me considering I'm a broke college student :p I'm looking into doing my own Mosin build upgrading the stock and adding a scope and such to get me started. I'm not new to forums and I'm not going to be "that guy" to post questions before searching so you don't have to worry about that haha I look forward to reading all of the posts here and learning as much as I can!

the cost of a good barrel for a mosin is more than a decent used complete bolt gun - if you like the mosin shoot it with the bargain ammo as is - watch at work for a good used 223 or 308 bolty to start

Well right now I think I can get a decent Mosin for around $130 and the Promag stock I want to get I can get for around $150. I looked today and did find a decent looking Rem 700 for about $400 with a scope but it doesn't have the pistol grip like the Promag stock would have. Still think I should get start with something else?

the 130 and ammo is all I would put in a mosin - just not the tool for the job of skill building
