After hours and hours and hours and HOURS scavenging through google, the hide, Arf and others, I cant find a single GOOD test/comparison using a factory or decent brand semi auto rifle firing the Herters steel case 308 150 gr stuff. Cabelas has an abundance in stock right now and id like to snag some for plinking with friends (which means friends will be shooting my rifles). The stuff on their shelf is head stamped Tula, but dont know if its rebranded Tula, tula cases, all the above, who knows. Anyway, the one test I found with the Herters brass case stuff, it ranked higher in consistency than even Hornady and a couple others, only getting beaten by winchester brass FMJ (consistency for FPS testing, not accuracy)

Before I jump on a case of this for rainy day/steel shooting and other garbage, does anyone have any FACTUAL and PERSONAL use besides "well my friend", or "X brand non AR rifle", or "ive heard" ? Im sure there has to be some budget shooters on here that go through this stuff like water!

I run both Herters and Tula through my MWS (0.308 CL barrel). I have about 200-300 rounds through with no issues. This ammo is perfectly capable of ringing steel (man sized) at 300 yards.

Id prefer the CBC stuff, but the two boxes they had (50 rounders) I already bought :) Im in there a couple times a week just watching for deals, and with the club card discounts, some get pretty ridiculous. With this months employee cost coupon, the Herters 308 was just over 8 bucks a box, or $215 with a free ammo can for 500 rounds... seems like too good of a deal to pass up, but I dont want $215 worth of paper weights if its garbage.

Thats all I need it for. If im going to push past 500 yards id switch to 168s anyway. I just have plenty of friends that like to shoot my guns when I bring them out, and I still havent seen anything brass for under 65 cents a round shipped/taxed.

Can you post a link to the steel case stuff? I can't find on the site.

I dont see it on their website... That and the 223 are rarely in stock when I go in, but they had a shelf full today when I stopped by. I guess they always have the brass case stuff which is made by sellier and bellot, but I dont like the funky stepped bullet on the 150 gr and round nose on the 180s.
