I have killed over a dozen hogs this deer season with my little Rem 700 AAC 300 Blackout. Been using 240 SMK's with head shots out to 100 yards. It drops em like a bad habit. Recently I took a few does out with it using 225gr Hornady HPBT's at 1030fps. You'll notice that I have went back with the cheesy Hogue on the rifle but hey it works fine and is a lot lighter than in the AICS chassis. Folks damn them but if the end of the forearm isn't rested on directly it shoots fine.

Here's a test group shot at 30,40,50,60 and 70 yards, it's under an inch which will work just fine for it's purpose. Load was using 11.3grs or AA1680 in the 1:7 twisted factory bbl.

Both of these shots offered little resistance for the bullet as I could hear it whizz after the shot. Something for me to remember in the future as far as what's behind the deer. The first doe taken you can actually see the bullet kick up dust a few yards behind her.

All in all, this little rifle has impressed me and will continue to quietly take out hogs during the off-season 220-240grs at a time.

Nice shooting.

A good friend has one of the cheapie Remington ADL Varminters with the Hogue stock in 223. He cleaned up the bump with some sandpaper and it shoots 3/4" groups with 55 grain FMJ bullets. Now he is working on some loads for it.

I have a game pole very similar to that I use with my pickup truck. They are worth their weight in gold hunting out here in the desert.

Nice shooting.

Nice. What kind of camera setup were you using?

Yeah this is a low budget operation. Used my Iphone and a Canon D60 with a 135mm lens set in movie mode. The Canon is a hit and miss as I found out my puny 16gb memory isn't fast enough for video. Sometimes it would video 5 seconds while other times a minute or two. Those vids were actually rushed due to that problem. A better SD card is in my future.

Thanks for the kudus everyone!

I PMd you about your bolt knobs early yesterday.
Just confirming that you got it.

Also nice shooting!

Good shooting and nice set-up. I digiscope with a Nikon P310 and Nikon Fieldscope. Nikon has a list of "recommended" SD cards - I'm sure Canon has the same listed somewhere for each camera. Even if you have a "fast" enough SD card it's still not necessarily going to work well. I had the same problem and once I put in a recommended card for the camera, it worked as intended.

Just got a Burris XTR zero'd with handload 220 smk subs in my newly re-barreled 300BO AR yesterday. Got a long wait yet on suppressor paperwork, but even without it I can hear the pill thump in the berm. LOVE IT so far.

(I've PM'd you about bolt knobs too but it doesnt seem from my end that they have gone through - nothing new in my "sent" box ?)

awesome! definitely a no-tracking job.

re: the stock, I did something similar with my salvage hawg hunter. the factory stock is junk (possibly worse than the hogue), so I had obtained a B&C medalist tactical replacement model. but, alas, the B&C boat anchor ensured that the hawg hunter was left in the safe anytime I was going critter hunting in the field. back on went the salvage factory junk, and i have had to grudgingly admit that it is serviceable for field use ...

Great shooting and nice control on not getting too excited and hitting the shot after spooking the second group. Very handy set-up.
