Rifle Scopes Primary Arms 4X14 ffp

I hope they are ok as well, I needed a scope on the cheap for my ar now, it will be here tomorrow, I will let you know more when it gets here
I had a bunch of dealings with Marshall and Primary Arms when I had my AR15 build. Never got anything but great products and great customer service
It has ok glass for the price, the turrets are a bit mushy, but you can still feel each click good tho. It will get put to more of a test over the next few weeks, it is on my truck gun so it will get beat around good.
Turrets were the only issue I had with its cousin, the BSA Tactical 4-14x FFP. Unfortunately I couldn't get past their lack of tactile and audible feedback.
I was hoping to hear the Primary Arms scope was better...
I have enjoyed all the business that I have conducted with PA. I purchased this scope a little over a year ago for my .22lr trainer. The scopes tracking is repeatable, but when adjusting right the adjustments are a little more than double. This will not work for my uses because the scope is a FFP instead of SFP. With the .22lr I really need to adjust a little bit for stronger winds all while still using holds. The other thing I will comment on is that the eye relief is very short and the eye box when at max power is very picky on your position. I would not recommend this scope for anything but a rimfire. For the same price you would be worlds ahead with the Midway Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3-10. I know its not FFP and doesn't have adjustable parallax, but for roughly the same price it is noticeably better.
I am not bashing the product or the company in any way, I have done a lot of business with them and will continue to do so in the future. I am just stating the downsides to this scope so you can make a better decision on what you would like from your new scope purchase.

So the turrets are mushy on both the Primary Arms and Midways BSA scope. Both appear to be a clone a the Falcon Menace. The glass sounds comparable on all three. Why would anyone consider the Primary Arms offer? The BSA from Midway is the only one that has a lifetime warranty the others five years or less. I am just curious because I have been keeping an eye out for a decent budget scope and I have pretty much narrowed it down to the BSA or the Weaver Tactical 3x10.

Bought the BSA Tactical to try. Liked everything about it (considering price point) except the knobs.
Sold the BSA and stuck with the Weavers.
Thanks Boiler. I have read some of your previous posts on the forums since you have owned both. Its been helpful. I dont think the mushy knobs would bother me much as long it will dial out accurately. The Weaver is like half the weight of the BSA and its always nice to save weight where possible. But I also like the extra magnification of the BSA, even if its only usable to 12 or 13x, and its FFP. I may just end up tossing a coin.
evidentally the BSA product has come a LONG way because the last BSA product I used about 7 years ago was pure shite...........and I mean PURE shite. The glass at the upper range was like looking thru a swimming pool. Are they really acceptable now? Is the glass equal to the Weaver target style scopes?
I am going to use this scope on a high grade pellet rifle and require side focus and target or tac style turrets although ffp is not a necessity. Would like to get at least 16 X at the high end. Anyone have a suggestion? I see the 4/16 pa scope has 80 min elevation and that would certainly be a help as if I don't like the scope on the pellet gun I will use it on a LONG range rimfire.

This particular BSA is a Midway exclusive scope available only through Midway. Their website says "is not your average BSA" so I assume it was a partnership between companies. I have searched the web high and low and have found very few negative remarks, other than what is listed above. I would imagine it would work ok for a pellet rifle or .22. But if you are looking for at least 16x both the Primary Arms and BSA are 4x14s.
I was willing to drop down to 14 but not if there is the least suspect of less than VERY clear glass. My eyesight is bad enough that less than outstanding glass just will not work.
I may be overanalyzing but I NEED clear class and REPEATABLE controlls for this airgun project to work. I was all ready to pull the trigger on the PA but not now.
Any recommendations on the "perfect" budget scope?
If my Leupold 8.5X25 LRT would focus closer I would just use that but the min focus on that scope is 50 yds and that is unacceptabe.

Not gonna get VERY clear glass in a current MRAD scope with 14-16x top end power variable at the $300 price point...ain't gonna happen.
I bought one of the BSAs off of the board to put on a 16.5" .223 bolt gun just to see if I liked FFP so far the tracking is true and visual acuity at max mag is pretty good. the knobs are a little mushy but have good audible and tactile clicks. is it as good as my loopys or vortex,no but it does seem to be well worth the money. ianal ymmv
You want "Very clear glass" then you need to save up for a while and get yourself something like a sightron, nightforce, or better for your pellet rifle project...
"Save up" now that's real funny as the pellet rifle in question is $2800 however I just don't want to spend big bucks on a scope for this particular project. As I said, I have several Leupolds but they will not focus close enough. If I tire of the pellet rifle for FT I will use it for airgun benchrest and don't want a lot tied up in a scope I will just have to dispose of. What I am seeking is a "good nuff" scope at a bargain price so if it does not work out there will be a small loss at "dump it" time. There is always a secondary market for the cheaper glass.
Clearly what I am seeking is a "best buy" in the lower end market. I have no illusions of getting March quality at a BSA price however I am open to all suggestions which will enable me to find the scope with the "least warts" as my experience in the lower end glass field is very limited.

Like I said. You want the best glass for the amount of money go look at the Sightron SIII lineup
Leupold makes adapters for several different models that screw onto the front end and allow you to focus close in. My old 22 silhouette rifle had one, but I don't remember which Leupold it was. There may be one that fits a Leupold that you already have.
