Rifle Scopes QD Mount Recommendation for MK6 1-6 on AR

Looking to mount a 34mm Leupold MK6 1-6 on a 300 BLK SBR. Granted, that scope is longer than the barrel, but with a can attached, it's not so short anymore.

I was originally going to go with a Larue LT104 or LT158 as they're local, but have heard good things about ADM, Bobro, GDI, and others. Anyone with experiences with this scope/caliber combo (or something close)? I'm not 100% commited to QD, but it seems convenient if it'll hold zero as well as a torqued mount.

It looks like either the dial or the reticle will get 220gr sub's to 300yds (100-110" drop), but would a canted mount get more yards? Will a 10 or 20 moa cant cause a distorted image at 1X like I've heard mention of?

Thanks and Happy Holidays.

I've been in the market for a qd mount as well. Jon A, a hide member makes a great mount from my understanding. Aadamount. If i spelled it right. That's the route I'm going

I absolutely love the bobro mounts that I have. I have never not had it return exactly to a perfect zero. The larue was hit or miss for the ones I've owned and decided to stay with what I know works. The larue also ate rails up due to the way the disc clamp to the rail.

I ran one (bobro) on a 300blk with a mark8 1-8 setup for a whole and I was able to engage targets from 5-400 yards with out any issues.

I've got two larue lt-104 mounts, larue bipod mount and flashlight mount. Mounts do return to zero or close enough. As for rail wear I've experienced no such thing. I've removed and reattached several times on multiple guns. Maybe if you use lapping compound as lubricant. Can't speak for other brands since I have no reason to change from larue. Imo larue makes excellent products.

The Aadmount looks nice; especially like the integrated level, but not too keen of having to buy a 35mm mount and use spacers.

Any input regarding canted bases compatibility with 1X?

Ive had great luck with ADM, I have two 30mm and one 35mm... super stable, easy to adjust and available in any configuration, height, offset etc.

After using others, I prefer the ADM (American Defense) mounts. Bullet proof mounting and no rail damage.

The mount I used was a zero moa setup. I do run a 20moa on a 6.5 grendel but it has a 4.5-30x50 Xrs on top so no where near the 1x stuff. I don't see an issue with it though but also don't see the need in it.

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards the ADM for a qd mount. I'm impressed by the repeatability claims made by GDI, but looks like its a tad heavier (and a lot spendier). I'd probably buy it and cry if it were as lean as the others.

Any votes for non-qd mounts? I could go that route if they're not heavier and I can find a torque wrench that'll fit in the handle or stock.

I prefer the qd mounts. Especially ones like bobro since you do not have to worry about setting the amount of preload on the levers or however you want to describe it so it's always going to be the same. I don't like having to keep up with a tq wrench even though I have the small one that cams over that will fit in your pocket. I have zero doubt I can take my optic from one gun and move it to another in less than a minute and shoot to 1000+ with success and move it back and do the same.

I have 2 MK6 both in ADM mounts. I used an early version of Bobro 34mm (levers on the right side) and while nice, it was quite a bit heavier than ADM, and the levers (in the original config) prevented me from having offset BUIS.

I've never used the ADM mounts. Do they require you to tighten something on the levers like the larue mounts do? I couldn't tell from the pictures I looked at. I've personally only used larue and bobro for qd style optics mounts. From the reviews the ADM looks to be a good option as well at a lower price then the bobro. I think the last 20moa 34mm mount I bought was 300 some odd dollars but well worth it imo. I need to look into the American rifle company qd system. I love their rings and that's all I run ring wise and they have been flawless and left absolutely zero marks on any of my optics.

ADM mounts have regular "screws heads" on the side opposite of levers. You tighten/loosen them to adjust fit.

What he said... you just push the QD through and it allows you to increase or decrease tension, then when you release, the spring loaded levers lock back into place.

Also note that you do not need a flat screwdriver to turn adjust the screws, they easily turn by hand.

I went the Larue route for awhile but I found the mount would slide slightly between rail lugs. They also chewed through my Cerakote and anodizing in a few spots. All I use now is ADM and I'm very happy with them.

This. Have it holding my USO 1-8 on my Mk12Mod1.

That's enough ADM votes to convince me (unless there's a last minute vote for a non-qd that fits the application).

This is probably a non-issue, but will vertical split rings obscure a low-pro elevation turret? I doubt I'd ever have to adjust anything so quickly that I'd notice, but I've heard it mentioned.

Oh, if one were to want to keep it OEM, anyone know the difference between the MK6 and MK8 IMS mounts?

I don't but I'm going to look into the ADM mounts since they are a good bit less than the bobro. I usually have 6-7 optics that I can move around so for now I'm good and have never been let down but if the same holds true for the ADM I see no need to pay more for perfect results.

I mount my MK6 in the rings as far forward as possible, in order to be able to see the turrets a little easier due to the ring height in ADM. I had a MK6 mount for a short period of time but returned in favor of ADM. Things I didn't like about MK6: very thin crossbars that aren't very tall (this may or may not affect mounting strength/repeatability), rather sharp nuts that protrude quite a bit.

Thanks for all the input. Still favoring the ADM, but the GDI keeps winking at me. Scope should arrive this week, but I won't be able to pick up the rifle til maybe Feb (that ball's in BATFE's court), so I have a little time.

Alamo Four Star deserves a look too. Lots of surface area grabbing the rail.
I just got their 34mm mount for the MK6 1-6x I'm saving for.

The A4S looks nice. I don't see much info on it though. Any reviews of it out there? I emailed them to see if they had one in stock and if they thought it would work for my application.

FWIW, Mile High Shooting had the mount for $80 less than direct from Alamo, if you decide to get one.

I can't find anything about that mount that I don't like. Can't find many reviews on it, but going to give it a shot. I'll find another rifle to throw it on til the 300 comes in and see how it does.

Thanks again for all the input. I know there are a few post similar to this one. To correct my original post, I just noticed the 20 mil mark on the TMR-D reticle. That should get subs well past 300 yards.

Figured I'd post a follow up. Went with the Alamo Four Star. I believe the company is now called ZRO Delta. Really nice mount. No complaints.

My only gripe is self-directed; have not shot the rifle that much. My son did use it on his first deer hunt though....

Also, if anyone stumbles upon this thread and is interested, I'd like to sell the above scope and mount pretty soon. Just doesn't get enough use.

ZRO Delta makes some great mounts. For the money, I’ve used Larue QD mounts for just about every AR I own. Affordable and well made. And Mark Larue always includes great stuff in your shipment.
