Hey everyone.
I am new to this forum and haven't learned to navigate it yet so excuse me if these questions have been asked.
I have a model 10tr on its way with a 20" threaded barrel. I am pretty excited about it. I am aware of the challenges that come with the bottom bolt release. I have read a few things on changing the sear to a top bolt release. It talks about changing it for pretty cheap. My only real plan for a stock is maybe a choate. Price is a big thing. I am not looking to shoot a group the size of a quarter at 1000 yards(I don't have anywhere to shoot that far) as long as I can hit a target/steel at 800 or so I am happy. This is my first long range rifle and I'm doing it as cheap as possible and probably won't upgrade the stock for a little while. (At least that's what I say now). I would rather by the cheaper rifle now than never buy one at all because dropping a grand plus glass can't happen. I am looking to put the swfa ss scope on. Either the 10 or 12x42.
my question is...
When it comes time to change the stock. Can I just change the sear and drop in in a choate stock? Is it that simple or is there something I am missing? Will the same mag/10 round mags work?

Thank you in advance for any help.

You are talking about the bolt release on the accustock models? If so Mcree has a chassis that it will just drop right in.

Yes you can convert to the top release, Google will lead you to the exact parts necessary to do it.

You can also put that rifle into Choate Tactical as-is with very minimal inlet work around the trigger guard area.

I myself picked up a 10TR (24") recently, and I have to say, the Accustock is better than I expected it to be. I definitely prefer an A5-style stock, but I'm very curious to actually shoot the rifle and see how it works in practice.

If I were you I would just keep the accustock on it and not worry about trying to change the bolt release. The accustock is not horrible. Keep that for a while and save up for something like a mcree/mcmillan/manners. I have also read that the HS precision M24 stock will fit with some minor inletting but I have no experience with it.

The only thingim worried about getting a good cheekweld and the ergonics of the stock but I know some tricks to help out with that until I replace the stock. That mcree is looking real nice. I like it. I like the look of the choate. It will be a tough choice between the pistol grip and the traditional style. Are choate a good for the money? For 200 bucks it seems real nice. What is the process for inletting the stock?

I am also considering the others listed. My only issue is being impatient ad saving for the stock. Thanks for the help. I'll be doing some research
