Thanks for the correction, and I knew it was mid range. Just made a typo and completely missed it. But I hope to do well. My goal is to not be in last place. Figured it could make for a good start. Ill see you there if you can make it.

There's nothing wrong with last place for your first match. Just showing up is more than 99% of the rest of the country does.

Your primary goals should be to shoot safely, not screw up on your target pulling and follow directions. Your secondary goals should be to complete the match, have fun and learn stuff. The very last thing you should worry about is placing last; who gives a flip? Everybody started at the bottom; what is important is to learn and improve, and have fun doing it.
When you get to the gate off CR-57, check your ego at that gate, drive in, introduce yourself to the match director and ask for someone to help you, especially if you've never competed before. There will be many competitors who will be happy to help you and answer your questions.
Listen and learn.
Don't get me wrong. Of course safety comes first. Ive just been competing against myself for a few years and now have enough skill to try out a match. But I do need to learn the range rules for this place, and how to pull targets. I'm hoping to become a semi regular out there as long as everything holds together.
My bad if I came off as ego filled, just hoping to show some basic improvement.

We get a lot of new shooters who come out thinking they are great shooters and they find out it was all in their mind, they get they egos crushed and never return. If you come out with the proper frame of mind, to learn, you will have a great experience. This is a great bunch of people and there are some awesome shooters from whom to learn.
300 yards is not difficult and you should have no problems getting and staying on target; from that point forward it's all about being safe, finishing, providing good pit service and having fun doing all this while learning.

It was so still this morning that barrel heat mirage was a constant problem. Good groups nonetheless.

Many MLD ranches harvest through end of Feb.
I'm going to try and make one next month.
sreid87 - glad you came out and enjoyed the match. I keep coming back to Bayou because of the people there and that it's a nice range and a good place to shoot. Be looking forward to shooting with you again.

I'd like to add that I also think it's a great place for many reasons but it's too bad they don't allow steel.
I'm interested in long range and new to the game. How does someone go about getting in the match?
