I am thinking about adding some glass on my AR15 and was seriously considering the Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25-4x20mm, I can get one for around $575 and was wondering if anyone is running one of these? Or should I be spending my money more wisely on another pc of glass?

Just using it for plinking out to 300yds and will saddle it some kind of QD mount so I can still use my BUIS.

I was between this and the Mark AR. Everyone told me the glass on the VX-R is way better and they seemed to love it. Mine is on order.

I like it. I am not using mine right now, as I've switched to ACOGs on my ARs, but it's still a nice scope. I might use it later on a 300BLK build I'm thinking of putting together, or I might sell it. I also have a Trijicon TR24 with a green triangle reticle that I'm not using, and I only plan on keeping one of those two.

I bought one and am using it on a 18" AR set-up and really like it. Glass is nice, holds zero and tracks good. Shop around and you can find them for a better price. I bought mine from Liberty Optics, $529.00.

Scroll down the link to find it.

Thanks guys that makes my mind up Ive got a Burris QDM so I just need to shop around and get a better price.
Thanks for the info

I run one too….of course mine is the special uber tactical zombie hunter one…..lol. Its all they had when I went to buy.

I have run just about every med range optic on my ar's from acogs to the swfa to leupold mk4. I sold them all and am keeping the patrol. All the rest either lacked versatility or weighed a ton. To me the patrol doesn't give up anything in the glass clarity to any of the others and is way lighter than the leupolds or even the sofa. I don't need a "red dot" type optic built into my scope and I don't need FFP so, the patrol is perfect for me

Its an excellent scope however the only thing I would have like is if it were a 1-4x rather than 1.25-4x But that just me being uber picky. It still works with both eyes opened at 1.25x

Using one, 1.25X with the illumination on is not an issue for closeups, easy to find and shoot with both eyes open. Visible under direct sunlight.
I like the motion detection, as I have killed countless batteries by neglecting to switch illuminations off.

I'm also thinking of getting this scope for an AR. Off all the low powered variables that are around the $500 price point, I like the feature set of this scope best.

Question: I've read that some feel that this scope is not built to a tough enough standard for "serious" use. Any opinions on that?
