There is a long thread going on about these same 2 guns in the Semi Auto section. Search Semi Auto .308.

What are your intended uses? What is your intended distance?

Of those 2 choices I would choose the SCAR. I currently own a POF p308 14.5" and couldn't be happier. Sub MOA, light recoil, not to heavy (12.6lbs with scope).

I've owned both and still have the SCAR. The REPR was vey well built and I enjoyed the rifle, but given my purpose I felt there were better options. If you want an accurate bench shooter, I would look at a GAP-10 or JP rifle. Based on you choosing a 16" barrel I would assume you are looking for a battle rifle or something more handy to hunt with? That's what I was looking and I think the SCAR is a much better fit. I love the SCAR! It's light, accurate, and very versatile.

i will read that thread padom. i really dont have particular "use" set in mind for it but hunting may be on the table. no competitions for sure. just something semi auto, .308, battle rifle, well built. i have never owned an AR so i fig it is time to jump in.

Between those two I'd give a SCAR the nod. You can put some good mods in one (starting w/ a trigger) and get acceptable accuracy. Plus you get a lighter weight and more compact (due to the folding buttstock) weapon system. My 2 cents.

Scars are great. A Pof or Jp would be better if you want to shoot groundhogs or something real far away. The scar handles a lot quicker though

The REPR hands down! Many standard parts. Try finding mags for the SCAR. The REPR has the advantage of mags, any SR-25 style mag. P-mags, C-products, Larue, KAC....... If you are familiar with the AR platform, it's a no brainer. I have the 18", and while it doesn't stack bullets on top of each other like my 260 Bolt gun, it does go bang everytime, clean, dirty, suppressed, un-suppressed, frozen, you get the idea. I hit 5 out of 5, a 12" steel plate at 775 yards. I have shot plenty of scar heavys, and while they all went bang, I can't say much for the way they handle. Not for me. In the end, get what you want, and shoot the damn thing. J

My SCAR shoots just as good as a REPR with the crappy stock trigger. This video is me shooting with ball ammo.

Not much not to like there.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but what enables the SCAR to be so accurate?

Like the guy said in one of the videos, its design seems to lend itself towards the exact opposite.

You can get lowers that use pmags for the scar for $400.

Scar is very handy. Very light weight. No recol. If you are going to do mostly prone shooting get the Jp or POF or REpR. For run and gun the scar wins easily IMO

I wouldn't get an XCR. my brother had one and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. shot horribly. grouped about 3" on a good day. They said it was the shooter so he sent in his picture of him shooting a fly on his target at 100 yards. i don't think it is the shooter. they were not easy to work with nor did they really care to help solve the problem so he sold his XCR to some poor fellow desperate enough to buy one.

well after all reading, watching vids and TONS of comparing i am very set on Scar. As i stated earlier i am not a fan of typical AR style rifles. I also have ZERO set use for the rifle i just want something to fill my semi auto 762 itch, and i think scar checks ALL the boxes. thanks for all the input guys
