I ordered a scope, seekins ring, seekins rail, and some accessories for my Remy 700. Fast shipping. Ordered Tuesday evening and received today on Friday. Open my box. Had everything but the rail. Go through it a couple of times and check the packing slip. The seekins rail is on back order. I didn't know this until I received my package :(
I wish they would have communicated that to me. I was excited thinking I was going to be set and would have been going to the range to get her zero'd.

Here is what they sent me via email. Packing slip inside box said that it was backordered.

If it makes you feel any worse...you have also been SCREWED on $31.80 worth of cheaply made BC covers that will all likely fit poorly or otherwise break and become basically useless in a matter of a few outings with them causing you to throw more good money after bad in replacing them when they do @#$% the bed. ;) Sorry...trying to bring a little levity to an otherwise tough situation.

From the part #...it looks as though you were trying to get a Seekins SA 700 20MOA 6-48 base...if so, check with Scott at Liberty Optics, as well as Alex and the folks at EuroOptic, both trusted Hide vendors that stock Seekins products, and see if they can hook you up. If no them, see here for in stock and available now from a non-sponsor, but Seekins authorized dealer:

Seekins Scope Base Remington 700 Short Action 20MOA

Call before you order in the future. That's what I do with EVERYTHING to make sure it's in stock.

Did they charge you for the backordered part already? Charging up front for items not in stock sucks.

Luckily, I was only charged for he items that was sent, or so the packing slip says. I was just frustrated because I got all the stuff and i cant even mount it. I just figured I would have gotten an email or something stating it was backorder. I mean, if I knew, I would have inquired about another rail.

Yeah, their website really needs a real time inventory. It's annoying to call every time I want to make an order.

The same thing just happened to me. Ordered TPS rings, TPS Base, Harris Bipods, a Timney trigger and some scope caps. Only the trigger and scope caps were in stock. I'm overseas at the moment so I couldn't even call to make sure they had an inventory on said items. VERY annoying.

This is inexcusable for all the online ordering done in recent years! To have to call on all your orders first to make sure all the items are "in stock" would crash the phones. However, when ordering online, the company should contact any buyers by phone to alert them that portions of their order are back ordered before they ship the order. Always very frustrating when this has happened to me!!! Listen up vendors....

SWFA sent me an e-mail recently to inform me of my "back-ordered" TPS 30mm low rings and a TPS 20 MOA rail AFTER I placed my order on-line. Yes, the website ordering system should automatically inform if an item is not in stock during the on-line ordering process. As noted above, they don't have real-time inventory management. This is unusual for a company of this size. So, yes, SWFA's software sucks.

In this case, I called in and talked to a real person to make changes to the order for in-stock items. It should not be this difficult. SWFA does deserve a public flogging. This is BS.

I do not think it is unreasonable in 2014 to expect a vendor to have accurate inventory information available when placing orders online. I don't order from SWFA because I can find the same deals elsewhere without needing to call for stocking information on each order. From all I've read, SWFA is a fantastic company and has amazing CS. I'd love to order from them, even though it would mean paying taxes (TX). I am not comfortable doing business online with a company who has not figured out inventory control. No need to slam anyone based on this, nor point fingers or call others names.

While I wholeheartedly agree that the lack of RTI on SWFA's website is an inconvenience at times (not so much for me and many others as we call or e-mail first before placing orders and avoid the hiccups in doing so), it is a known issue to anyone who has bothered to do their due diligence about the company with which they are preparing to do business. Every single thread re: problems with SWFA stems from the RTI issues and the consequences that stem from it. An educated consumer is a happy consumer...PERIOD!

Had you done your due diligence instead of assuming that if something's listed at SWFA, its readily available to ship, you'd have learned ahead of time that the base was out-of-stock and you'd have either: a) not ordered it from SWFA in the first place; b) ordered it knowing it'd arrive in the future once the BO was filled; and/or c) placed an order with another vendor who had the item in stock and ready to roll. While I'm sorry you got shorted on this order, just cancel the backorder and order your replacement from any number of the vendors I suggested above and be done with it. Hopefully, some day, SWFA will get around to updating their online store and inventory controls to a RTI system which will reduce if not eliminate these types of issues, but for now...it is what it is. No need to waste any of your time and/or energy railing against a company you have already written off based on this experience with the same old tired and boring "SWFA has no RTI" crap that has existed since the company first established its online presence and you certainly aren't telling folks (at least the educmacated consumers) anything that they don't already know. ;)

Best wishes in getting your base ordered and in your hands so that you can get your optics mounted up and get to shooting.

Take care and God bless.

I remain mystified why SWFA can maintain RTI on their samplelist.com inventory, but not their new stock.

it frustrates me too,,,,happened to me right before Christmas called and the lady promised me I would receive the items before the holidays and guess what they did like 3 days behind the rest of the stuff...they have a great reputation for cs and they deserve that, but I agree their inventory needs to be posted to their website like every other vendor.. oh well I will still order from them

It's odd that they didn't contact you. I ordered a certain 20moa base from swfa, and they called to let me know that it was on backorder, and they were willing to upgrade me to a better more expensive base for free.

I would gave went with the EGW base had I known. A call or email would have been nice. Since, I didnt get until Friday evening, I have to wait until Minday to call.

I too dealt with this recently. I ordered TPS 30mm rings and R700 base only to be sent a backordered email. This was a month ago and still no word. I called them about it and they said TPS hasn't given them an ETA. I would consider changing the order out to something else, but I don't want to do that only to find out the replacements are backordered as well. I also don't want to have to sit on the phone shopping with someone else (why is this even an option for some of you?). Nonetheless, I will sit here and try to be patient, but we should be past all this nonsense.

Had the same problem trying to order through their web sight and they seem to have no inventory program
that shows current inventory, so after a call went with Amazon.

I will still order from them, however I will call first.

Why not call them, advise them of the issue and see what they can do for you. You might get it free depending on how you handle it...

I don't agree with this attitude. If they require ME to conduct an inventory check then they should either pay me, or discount the item. Besides, how come when I call them, they check the fucking computer to see if the item is in stock? If the information is there, why don't they provide it to customer?
It is a bad business model and, while they make plenty of money, they most likely have lost many a customer.
I will admit, I have ordered from SWFA and I generally assume the item is NOT instock, so I am not surprised when I get the "backorder" notice, but sometimes they are the only place to get certain items.

same thing just happened to me. two things on backorder and never knew until i opened the package and no eta on when they will be in. guess I can and wait some more tomorrow.

Just be glad they dont send you the wrong item and then they want YOU to pay to return the item. The customer service lady needs to be put through a customer service class. She acted all offended when I called back to ask why I hadnt received a call tag to return their item. I wont be ordering from them again. Ill wait til a scope of theirs comes up used and save on sales tax as well. That guy who works for them and used to always be on here has been awful quiet here lately...

Yup same problem here. When I called them they were helpful and nice to deal with but it is 2014. If your ecommerce website doesn't have RTI you are going to drive business elsewhere. Guess they have plenty of business!

I just call them , always very nice to deal with , . Big ticket items I call everyone first then stare out the window for the UPS man

I'd like to place an order right now before work. They're closed. Can't call. What next?

UPDATE:

I got an email stating that they show on their end the Seekins base was shipped. Call them an hour later and was told that the item was not in stock and that was not reflective of their computer inventory. Since I was unable to find a Seekins base elsewhere, I ended up substituting the Seekins with the EGW as I have heard good things about their product. They verified they had on hand and tell me that it will be shipped today or tomorrow.

So it would appear that calling ahead would not have helped my situation. Hope to get it in and going.

Hope you can take your phone to work and call on one of your 10 or 1/2 hour break. beats getting upset.

Funny you should mention that, because I did just that. Called, computers down but checked shelves, indeed 2 PSTs in stock. Ordered, backordered, sorry. What else?

Sorry it did not work out for you I am sure SWFA is losing a lot of sales like that , We have some great scope dealers here that will give better service. GL
