is there a limit on number of students? does the number of instructors vary depending on attendance?

on another note, i think the partnership with USO is outstanding.

we are providing food and lodging for the Long Range Gunfighter II course in May, for $950.
as for the instructors we like to keep the instructor / student ratio at no more than 1/5. so as the classes fill up we schedule more of our instructors. We thought the USO partnership was a great add-on as well. as the Course in May states LE course (5 days) we do let qualified Civilians attend as well. If anyone is interested in the LE course PM me.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the courses you guys offer regarding long range.

MOA, thanks for the follow up. Course sounds great. I plan to attend the beginner course. I appreciate the chance for a beginner long range course relatively close to home.

Not a problem, as busy as it gets sometimes we try to maintain and keep in touch with everyone. Glad to hear youll be at the course, youll have a good time and learn a ton. Also im not sure if you found it on our site or not but once a person attends a specific course such as the Beginner Long Range Gunfighter, that student is always welcome to that same course later in the future at not charge. Its our way of helping you maintain your skills. Thanks for the comments, see ya out there.

That is another awesome thing I read about you guys. That's nice! I wish I lived closer I'd be going to a LOT of your classes!

Looks like a fun class. If I can get my rifle ready by the class date then I may have to sign up. My Current rifle is a bit finicky at the moment.

Quick question, looking at the class schedule I noticed that half of the last day was devoted to "teach-backs" for those interested. Can you explain what this means? Thanks.

SoCal326, what type of rifle is it? and what are you looking at doing to it? maybe we can help get you going. We have a fantastic gunsmith. as far as the teach-backs are concerned, that is allowing the students to teach us what they've learned ensuring they have grasped the information and are confident in their retention of that knowledge. We ask them to explain some key factors from the classes that were taught. This happens on an individual basis if requested by the student. we do not force anyone to partake in the teach backs but it is a great tool.

I like the sounds of that!

Very interested in reserving my spot for this! I have sent an / PM with a question.

Thanks!

Yes, spoke with Ryan. Looking forward to this!

Thanks for the follow up!

How is Sewet, their website doesn't have much info? Any reason not running it closer to home, like Pala for instance? Just curious as a San Diego native. I might have to pull the trigger on this, it fits perfectly into the end of my spring break.

RideHPD,
Sewet is rough around the edges for the everyday shooter coming out to shoot. But it works perfectly for us. We have the ability to shoot 1000 yds, we have our own targets, steel, and movers. we also shut down the long range side to the public during our courses so we are not bothered or interrupted. What we also like about Sewet is that its on Cahuilla Reservation which is sovereign territory. So... California Gun laws do not apply. Federal remains that same but 30 round mags and Mag releases are Preferred. As for Pala, I do like the range but trying to use it on the weekend would be about as easy as shooting a 1/4 MOA 100 yard group with a Stag Arms AR15 using 55 gr steel cased wolf ammo HAHA. So easily put Sewet works best with us, its our home range. And we have a Commitment with them as they have with us. I hope to see you out there, it will be a great time. Also, remember our guarantee... Once a course is paid for, you are always welcome to attend that same course in the future at no cost to sharpen your skills. Thanks for the interest.

Wow, I did not know about that guarantee, that definitely pushes me almost over the edge. I should know about my schedule soon, which is really the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger. I mentioned Pala b/c Magpul ran their PR and DMR courses there last year near the same time, and I believe they rented out the range exclusively for the course. Would it be possible to split the time between rifles? I've don't get to the range often as a student so I find my skills atrophy on both my bolt and gassers. That and I have a ton of mk262 for my SPR, and not as much for my .308, and I'm already draining my accounts. I'll definitely be attending if not this time, in the near future.

RideHPD,
Im ok with you bringing both rifles and using each one throughout the course as long as it doesnt impede on other students learning or the flow of the course. We have had one other student bring 2 rifles before, it worked out well but their were certain instances where he was it was only possible for him to use one due to the structure of the class.
FromAfar,
Look forward to seeing you out there.

For everyone else, we have just added a Night vision portion to the course, we have teamed up with a Night vision company and we will provide the Night Optics. Dont worry, we will not keep you all out to late haha. Pass the word for us. Thanks all.

Not only the training...but a 40% discount with USO and a chance to run night optics?!

Paid for! Can't wait!

It's a Steyr SSG 69 P1 with the original green stock and a vortex viper pst ffp 6-24x50 sitting on top. I'd be glad to hand it off for a second opinion but am pretty set on the Savage 12 in 6.5 Creedmoor at this point. I've got my local shop liking into getting one for me.

He'll ya to this night vision add on. Are you using FLIR scopes for that?

Definitely interested. Fits pretty tight in terms of my spring break though, but it's nice to see this type of class in CA (quite a ways away though still).

I do have to ask though, even though the course states "beginners", are instructors still expecting participants to know some things?

Briant8957, sorry for the delayed response. Catching up after Shot Show has been hectic. So on to your question. The course is for beginners, and we do not expect students to show up with any knowledge of Long Range marksmanship. Our course is designed to provide a solid foundation in marksmanship fundamentals for beginners or improve the fundamentals and consistency of more experienced shooters. We teach the "why" as well as the "how" when it comes Long Range Shooting. Hope to see you out there, Seats are filling up fast with many students receiving their scopes from US Optics already. Hope to see you out there.

Bruddah,
To give you an update. we will be coming to Washington this spring / summer. The company that we are partnering with will be Rainier Arms. There are not many details at this moment except we will run a Carbine course and a Long Range course. The exact dates, range, etc. are still being hashed out at this time but things are progressing quickly. Based off some other partnerships we've made, our courses will also include NVG shoots. Thanks for the inquiry and I will do my best to keep you posted. We will be out of the country on and off in february so Internet connection may be hit or miss.

Thanks for the info.

Any idea on the head count so far for this course?

When will the next beginners Long Range Gunfighter course be? Definitely interested. Not quite ready for this one, but would like to know how much time I'd have to be prepared for the next. Thank you.
