Thanks for the help on atacr vs. NXS. What about the razor. How does the glass in the razor compare to the atacr? I see the razor is fps and the atacr is 2nd fp. The razor has a bit less travel? If the NF has better glass, that's my scope. If not, decisons, decisions....... Sorry to bug you guys, but I like to get things right the first time. No one at my range has the razor that I've seen, or I would take a look through one on my own. I have a viper pst, but the razor glass should be better. Thanks again.

First focal plane sold it for me. I couldn't bring myself to pay more for a SFP, and I couldn't really see a difference in glass, but I was also inside a building looking through them.

The only thing I don't like about the Razor is the big turrets. The glass is nice and the EBR reticles really do the job. I have a EBR-2B MOA reticle, like a Christmas tree, and it really works well and I don't have the turn the turrets much at all just use the reticle. I have NF NSX optics but I don't have an ATACR so I can't judge the glass difference; but, in the end of the day FFP always wins with me if the money is close. Vortex is coming out with the new Razor soon, and it is in the price range of an ATACR, so I would check that out too. I would imagine the 1st gen Razors will come down in price as the new ones come on line.

The old razors are already $500 less, retail, than the new ones so I don't think they will come down in price too much, but who knows.

The Razor zero stop is easier to use than NF. Also when zeroing the Razor you make adjustments with the top cap off and use the inside cap without clicks so there is no being a click high or low anymore. You can get a perfect zero by setting between. Then when you put the top cap on you are back to 0 mark and clicks are back. It's a pretty slick system.

The Razor knobs aren't all that big. Have you seen the BEAST knob? Surprised I don't see as many people complaining about that thing as the Razor. The Razor knobs are easy to grab and read.

Razor being FFP puts it over the ATACR for me. If NF would make a FFP ATACR then the choice would be tougher.

I have both and I would have to say it is based on your application. It is hard to compare, like asking should a buy a Jeep wrangler or a Chevy Suburban, both are 4x4 utility vehicles but each fits a very different market. Now glass, I think my ATACR MAY have a slight edge, but I have a hard time when comparing higher level scopes. The ATACR is light years better then my old PST. Rob did a very good job going over the zero stops and as far as turrets go I like the ATACR better. Reticles, I like the MOAR but the EBR is excellent too, and again each are designed for a different base, one is ffp/mil the other is sfp/moa. Cost? Hands down the Razor and I still see it as about the best value in that $1500-$2200 price range.

Now, my favorite is the ATACR, all things considered. I am LEO and LEO snipers are conditioned with sfp/moa so it is my duty scope. For that reason it gets FAR more use then my Razor. IF I was shooting the type of matches that Rob does or my application changed then between the two hands down I would take the Razor.

So, decide what your shooting wants and needs are and if you decide ffp/mil I would strongly suggest the Razor and if you want sfp/moa (or sfp/mil as the ATACR comes in both variety) then the ATACR is IMHO the best in that market.

Thanks for the help guys. I've been leaning hard towards the NF, as stated in a different thread, I love my NXS. Based on what I've read, I think I'm going with the atacr. My NXS has the MOAR reticle so I won't have to get used to something new. My applications will be hunting and long range shooting, <1000 yards. Thanks for the input guys, it was very helpful.

I agree that SFP is a deal breaker for me personally. I love everything about the A-TACR except that. The new Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56 is so similar, plus locking turrets, better reticles (IMO) and FFP. Price is about the same too and you still get the low light performance of the 56mm objective.

I think he means the Gen 1 is $500 cheaper than the Gen II, the 4.5-27 at least...

Where have you seen Razors for sale for $1500?

The gen II HD razors look like theyre going to go for 2200+, the gen Is can be found for 1700ish new. Personally Im waiting for everyone to dump the "crappy" gen Is for the new gen IIs and pick one up for cheap.
