Attaching TacOps drag bag to packs

It has built in shoulder straps (like a backpack). I don't know if it would hook to another pack, but I can't imagine wanting to carry more than the tac ops bag can hold

Look at the Kifaru Nomad. They actually sell a rifle case that would do something similar, but you could seat the drag bag and attach it (likely using the existing drab bag shoulder straps) to the mounts near the top of the frame.

I like the TacOps as it houses all I need for shooting but not for camping, clothes etc.

If their was a way of attaching my gun needs (TacOps DB) to my camping needs then I would have the capability to carry both ergonomically.

After looking around at the options, I pick up a Eberlestock X3. With a separate compartment that stores the rifle closer to your body, it helps with the weight. There is a separate cover that has 4 clips to hold it in place. For longer rifles there is a sock that extends below the pack to reduce the overall carry height. The pack offers a fair amount of internal storage plus molle webbing that will allow external securing.

I ended up getting a Crossfire DG-8 which will allow attachment of the TacOps DB I already have.

Does anyone have experience with the struggles of carrying an extra 8-10 kg on the back of any backpack? I don't want to start a long hike if it's going to cause me back problems.

I'm 6'5 and of solid build.

Any experience is appreciated.

Yeah, the further away from your body center of gravity the weight is placed, the more you are going to have to lean forward to balance it, thus causing undue comfort. Hence the reason many packs have tensioning straps, to tighten things down and keep it closer to your back. By placing the rifle on the outside of your new pack, you'll be placing a good portion of the load further away than you probably should. This is why the Eberlestock packs have the rifle scabbard right next to your back and the rest of the gear is on the outside of that.

Thanks Geb,

I thought as much. I have decided to take it to a canvas alterations place and see if they can alter it the way I want. I might throw some pics up when I'm done if it is at all possible.
