Not going to happen without a good deal of work. The Ruger case is almost .200" shorter than the Remington. If you set the barrel back the .200" then it is possible.

Thanks for the info! I missed the case OAL dimension, and upon further research, discovered that the 416 Rem Mag requires a "magnum-length action" and that the 416 Ruger only requires a standard-length action.
I really don't like the idea of belted magnums ... but am I really barking up the wrong tree? Would the 416 RM be just fine for an Africa trip?
Probably the best thing to do would be a .416-.375RUM if you want to rechamber a .416 Rem. You'd get .416 Rem velocities with a lot lower pressure because at top pressure it will exceed the .416 Rem. by 100-150fps. It's beltless and is the same length. The down side is it's a wildcat and will require custom dies. As long as the caliber designation is .416-.375RUM on the barrel and you use .375RUM brass you'll be fine traveling to other countries.
