Finally bit the bullet and bought the new Sinclair bi-pod. It doesnt seem to want to tighten down and stay put, I can wiggle it just a bit and I dont like that. Is it customary for these bipods to have a little slack in them? The rifle is a Savage 12 ftr. Kinda bummed!

I took off the felt pad and it seems to help a bit, what is everyone else using to keep the sinclair bipod secured to their rifle?

I have two Sinclair bipods, the 2nd and 3rd generation models and they each have the same attachment system which has worked extremely well for me for several years and dozens of matches. I most certainly leave the felt pad on the contraption, I don't want to mess up my rifles and it provides a better interface between the rifle and the clamp.

Both my bipods have two wing nuts that I can tighten as much as I want to take out any slop. Do you not have those wing nuts or do you not know how to tighten them?

The bipod does have the 2 wing nuts, but even if I tighten them down all the way ( to the point of almost breaking) I still have the wiggle.

Oh, and thanks for the reply. Just trying to get this figured out before I show up at a match, soon.

Define "wiggle." My bipods are very tight when mounted and do not move back and forth, but they are not welded to the rifle. I do check for tightness before each string. The felt padding provides a good weld without marring the surfaces.

I'm about to sell mine because I went to a Duplin and pulled the instruction sheet that came with my Sinclair. Check your swivel stud... There's a warning that some rifle manufacturers use a wood screw-type swivel stud. If your swivel stud is the wood screw-type, they recommend replacing it with a bedded-in stud mount or lock nut type mount before installing your bipod. I used mine last year in two f-tr matches, never had a wiggle and worked well.

I use the deluxe bipod adapter on one of my .308 bolt F-TR rifle; it has a rail underneath. The other is a regular stud screw.

I had the same problem with my savage F/TR and sinclair Gen 3. I solved it with removing the felt and using the sinclair delux bipod adapter. I also added some washers under the wing nuts since you are removing material from removing the felt. It is very solid now.

I had the same issue with my Sinclair, but the solution was the opposite. When placed on my Choate stock (which has a sliding stud in a rail) I found that the stud was too long, thus the bipod would not tighten up securely. I ADDED some material to the bipod and all is well.
Why would you want to remove material if it won't tighten up?????

The wiggle you are referring to is from the two pins under that the screws for the elevation adjustment are in. The screws don't fit tight and is where the wiggle comes from. Take it apart and put teflon tape on the screws and it will stop the wiggle.

Are you talking about wiggle on the legs? When secure the legs wiggle slightly? I returned mine to Sinclair and bought a Duplin. I really like the Duplin. To me night and day better than Sinclair
