I am trying to find out how much H335 powder to use in Win .223 cases with Nosler HPBT 52 gr bullets. the Nosler website only shows data for Nosler cases, 24.0 gr as a starting load. Winchester brass has more capacity i.e. 30.1 gr H2O vs. 27.5 for Nosler. Just looking for a starting load. Thanks for any ideas/help.

Bolt gun? AR platform? Either way 24.0gr. is a good starting point. Not a lot of powder being used so take the time to do it correctly and safely. You'll have more leeway in a bolt rifle but I'm guessing you already know that.

Are you sure there is such a huge difference in water capacity between the Winchester and Nosler cases? I mean 2.6 grains is a big difference.

However, the case type should not really matter too much when you are talking about pressures. I never consider brass type when I am starting out a new load. I am more considered with the weight of the bullet, the shape as it meets the grooves and so forth.

I would highly recommend Quickload. It will save you a ton of time, money and materials in getting the results you are looking for. Just my .02 dollars.

My Hornady Reloading Manual shows 23.3 gr of H335 and a Hornady 52 gr BTHP bullet as a mild load. Can I substitute the bullet with a Nosler 52 gr HPBT bullet with the same powder charge?

This should be what you're looking for.

Took this from my Nosler reloading manual, 7th Edition (latest).

Will I be okay to use this load with a Win. case ? Their case holds 30.1 gr. of H2O vs. 27.5 gr for the Nosler case. Will pressures in Win. case be higher with the same powder charge? Sorry for the dumb questions but I am a rookie reloader. - You can call me RR !

That's what i got, also ran some H335 in it, it's a dirty pig powder.

Lol! Wouldn't be my choice of powder but if it's all a guy has. Really like the IMR 8208 XBR or Benchmark with the lighter pills in a 12 twist barrel. H335 is my go to powder for bulk loading 55gr. FMJ's to spit out of the AR's. Still an old classic powder preferred by many.

apapig, load away and see what ya come up with!
