New guy from NY

Hi guys, I'm a former (long time ago) Army Special Ops helicopter pilot, always been intrigued with long distance shooting. My good friend is a retire Marine RECON, Vietnam Nam era, he has me interested in starting to shoot at his range. I'm looking forward to the spring so I can get started!

Ah the "other" NY, just kidding. The Island has some really nice areas, to bad it's NY though just like upstate. I can't wait to relo out of NY, I'll miss the area I live in but not the taxes & firearms laws.......

Not familiar with "the Pit", 300 yes on the island sounds pretty good though.

The taxes, the crowds and the cost of living in general make it a pain. But the beaches and water are pretty much spectacular.

what's some good options? I did some research last year but couldn't get any clear answers on what was available, private vs. public, etc… any tips are greatly appreciated.
