american defence vs Larue mounts which one do you like and why

Don't mean to hijack the OP's thread, ... I had a similar question. I'm specifically interested in the ADM Recon SL.
I'm also wondering if ADM mounts generally have some weight savings (less ounces) over a comparable LT mount?

ADM because it's easier to adjust (I always lose the LaRue tool). I feel the quality is similar, but ADM' s are more reasonably priced.

this is a stupid questions: but for QD mounts there are versions that have the scope rings directly on top of the mount while others the scope rings are moved more foward. what is the difference when it comes to the function of the mount in both types?

I have one single ADM and the QD aspect works great. I am just not a fan of the rings being split vertically. It is pain in the ##### ass to setup. If i had to do it again i would pay the $20 more and get a Bobro mount specially now that the nuts are accessible from the top. I dont see any other mount that comes close. I have two of them on other rifles and they are superb.

I have both LaRue and ADM mounts. The ADM mount is a tool-less tightening adjustment. With that comes less resolution on whether it's tight or not. With a LaRue, you just tighten it by fractions of a turn to get it where you want it. You can't do that with ADM. There have been a few guys that had problems with ADMs because of it. And, how many times are you going to really need to setup the mount tension? Once or twice? Anyone here should have the hand tools to replace the LaRue tool to tighten the mount if needed. I also like the way the LaRue locks better.

I have both Larue and ADM QD mounts. I like that the ADM can be adjusted without tools. Both work great and have a solid mount to the rail. With that said, the Larue is $100 +/- more in cost and I dont see that it is worth it. My last two QD mounts are ADM.

Both are good quality mounts, I have mounts from both companies and have no issues with either. One worth mentioning is the Bobro mount as well if you're looking for QD mounts, very well built and are my preferred choice in QD.

whats the benefit of the forward offset? type of shooter that it benefits over a no forward offset mount

To keep the scope on the same rail. Most ar15/ar10 platforms have the rail on the upper and another one on the handguard. Having it on only the upper is optimal. However, some do have monolithic rails.

ADM by a nose and I'm slightly biased now. I chose one last week after searching for a few months when I was dead set on LaRue.

Pros over LaRue:
More contact surface on the rail per lever
2 level locks vs 1 on LaRue
More options
1.47 vs 1.5" scope centerline (also more options again)

That was all eh until I talked to ADM via phone call and wanted to special order a recon with a lower centerline and keep the 2" extension. They took my info and talked to me about what it wanted and were saying their design team might want to take and make my idea a production mount. Because they have been looking and trying new ideas and are trying to stay ahead of the game.

ADM all the way IMO. But LaRue is a great company but I feel like many of their stuff bank on being LaRue and have what they have where ADM is striving to be the best and run the market. Way better business ethic and attitude.

Eye relief. My scope needs it or else I'd be mounted on the rail or way too far back for my stock.

I own both as well. The ADM has more contact area and adjustment is easily done without the use of a tool. However, the adjustments are 1/8th turns.
The Larue is more of a fine tune adjustment (with a tool) to get the exact amount of pressure you may want but less contact area.

I just wish ADM would allow a way to lock the levers and hook up a torque wrench and apply and know for a fact you run the in lbs you want your mount than just adjust and feel.

Thought that was a down side.

With the way it works, if you get it properly adjusted, you are torquing the bolts. and the levers do lock using a detent.

Several years ago I used all larues, tried a ADM and sold the larues afterwards. All my ARs have ADMs or the NF Unimounts.

If you want to drop the coin, GDI.

Several ADMs of various styles. They are made in Milwaukee - I live in Milwaukee, seemed like a novel idea. I have never had any issues with them.
