I am looking to spend around 2-2500 on a bolt rifle for long range shooting It may be used for leo marksman but not sure about department letting me use my own gun, I'm looking for .308 cal . I have a leopold scope mk4 ready to set on it i want great sub moa gun whats some ideas... I've looked at fn a5m 308..looking for a 20 inch gun.

You could have a rifle built for that much if you use a rem700 reciever. Should be well below MOA and you can get it exactly the way you want.

I spent right around that to build mine.

591R Surgeon action 1200
.308WIN Remage barrel from McRee 450
McRee chassis 725
Trigger 200
Total 2575

Scope and rings added another 1800

This does not include shipping.

Substitute a defiance deviant or bighorn action and you can pretty much duplicate it, or beat it with leo discounts.

FN SPR A5M with 20" barrel in .308

The test target that came with my rifle had a .17" group with FGMM. That's insane accuracy and especially considering the barrel is chrome lined.

For a factory rifle, you'd be hard pressed to beat the SPR, especially in your price range.

Agree on FN SPR.

There's a Kimber/FN custom in the classifieds for $1800, comes with shorty 308 barrel and 26" 243 barrel. Turn key and kickass.

Awesome rifle, below your budget.

I would suggest getting a custom. Pick the parts you want and gather them up, send them to a smith of your choice and have a great shooting rifle that fits you. You don't have to slap it all together at once, plus I think building a new rifle is half the fun of owning it.

A tikka Sporter with a KRG stock. If you reload, skip the .308 and go .260.

i'd say a hipoint carbine in 9 milly, it'll bring all the leo's to the yard, and be like, my hipoints better than yours

If you can spend a bit more, you can get an AE MKIII for a killer deal right now. Listed price is $3060 at EuroOptic, but if you let them know you're a SH member, they'll knock the price down even more.

Accuracy International AE MK III .308 Win Rifles Dark Earth

What he said. Pay the extra $$$$ and you'll be so much happier than a remmy 700. Its much cheaper than having to unload the 700 and upgrade. Plus, if you reload, go with the 6.5 creedmoor, especially if you're shooting long range. And Mile High gives a good discount. Otherwise, Eurooptics.

Jees Punisher, you missed an opportunity to promote the precision rifles from TacticalRifles.net. You know they build the best .0000001 MOA rifles in the world, capable of knocking the dingleberry off a gnat's ass clinging to a dog's ass at 2 gazillion light years away.

RWS Gunsmithing base custom rifle would be my recommendation.

I'd honestly keep an eye on the For Sale section here. You'll see some excellent rifles come up for sale that will fit in your price range. I don't think you'll see a rifle with a Surgeon action go within your budget. The AIAE Mk III deal someone mentioned above is a great deal as well. You've got a lot of options though, so don't rush into this decision.

For sale section here on the forum is a good place to keep an eye out for what you want. Wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a good TRG22 on there now but I've been trying to stay out of the for sale section lately to prevent gotta have it purchases.

GAP's always pop up in the F/S section with a price tag around 2500 with a factory trued rem action. I would only get a trg if it came with its expensive proprietary stuff.

In that price range I'd buy a FN SPR A2 from TACCORD and have them do the bolt know and install the CDI bottom metal. You could also build a custom for around the price too. $1350 will get you a stiller and a good barrel. Install will run you another $300 without trueing. That leaves $850 for chassis and trigger. $100 for a timney and $600 for a close out AICS or a KRG X-ray and you're done.

Stiller action, Bartlein barrel, Jewell trigger with HS stock will be in your price range. Kickass combo, ask me how i know.
