Does anyone have any experience with the Para TTR? I guess Im dumb, but I cant really grasp how they make this thing work. I have not seen one in any nearby shops, so I was posting here to see what you guys think. I trust the people here for reviews more than a magazine or other forums for that matter.

Re: Tactical Target Rifle

I have one and will be getting it on the range hopefully this weekend to do an initial review. The first run with it I had a significant cycling problem so it went back for service. I just got it back from the shop last week, and will post some initial results soon.

Re: Tactical Target Rifle

From the little Ive seen on these, Id be really interested to see one in action and try one out. Not sure I could justify getting one though until they become more popular and parts were easier to find...

Hello, I'm just looking into the TTR and wanted to know what your thoughts are now?
Many thanks.

Looking at the video on youtube it looks like a long stroke piston design similar to the PWS rifles. The oprod is directly attached to the bolt

I'll put my update to it in here for the record...

It's been a trial in patience. When I first got it, it wouldn't cycle at all, basically not getting the bolt back into battery each shot. I sent it back to Para and they took several months, phone calls and emails to get it back to me. Their customer service was some of the worst I've ever experienced, and I was about to drive to four hours Charlotte to retrieve it when they finally did get it back to me. After I finally got it back, the accuracy was horrible. It's a 5-6moa gun, no matter what I put through it from M193, M885, Federal 69gr Match, Hornady TAP, Black Hills 77gr Match, all shot with a proven ACOG and Aimpoint in addition to iron sights. It has really pissed me off... I'm eventually going to replace the barrel to it, but that has been on the back burner for some time. I'd sell it with full disclosure, but I don't want to take that much of a hit on it. Once I get a decent shooting barrel onto it, I might keep it as I REALLY want it to work for me, but I think I'd be better off with a SCAR L for compact and lightweight.

I believe you get what you pay for, and I paid a lot for this hunk of shit, so this is certainly the exception. If I were to see one on the used market and really wanted one, I wouldn't buy it until I printed my own groups and I still wouldn't pay over $1k.

To sum it up - Great concept by the original designer, horrible execution by Para. Since it consists mostly of YHM parts, I will never touch one of those again.

I have a couple of the TTR's and both run good and both are around 1-1.5 moa. One is SBR and is probably the best AR-15 SBR going. They can fire from the folded position like the ZM. Mine run the 55gr bullets and one has probably 5000 rounds through it. Barrel changes are not bad, so if some other caliber suits you, it is easy. I also have a ZM that we don't shoot anymore but has been good with same accuracy of the TTR. They do not hold value very well and that is the only downfall to me.
